The next thing Charlie knew, he was being awakened by the sound of rustling metal. He was about to use the necklace to speak, but figured it was safer to hold his thoughts just in case. The door swung open, and that's when Charlie was greeted by a young woman, probably in her mid twenties.
She had blond hair, with a half shaven head, wore tight overalls which accentuated her hips and had a rainbow t-shirt. She stared at Charlie as he woke up. He was about to say something using the necklace, but noticed a tag on her strap which had "volunteer" written on it, along with the name "Tara". He didn't want to freak her out by having an alpaca talk to her.
She stared at Charlie silently, then glanced at the paddock door which had Charlie's cover story written on it.
"Oh you poor girl." She whispered sadly. "You probably don't want any nasty people touching you huh?"
She then pulled out a lead, and quickly placed it around Charlie's long neck. Now he was fully awake, and was more than a little concerned. He wanted to snap at this lady to tell her to buzz off, but he needed to keep quiet. "Okay, it's all gonna be fine Charlie." He thought to himself. "Worst case scenario, she just brings me somewhere and an actual M.P.D. member will find and return me.:
The woman went silent, slowly leading the way as Charlie trotted behind. She took him out the front barn doors, then out past some of the gated areas he saw before. This time they were more filled up, mostly with what he assumed were actual animals. They rounded a corner, and spotted an open field area. It had a lot of animals inside, and standing by the gate was a man with a volunteer badge on, who seemed to react to the two of them moving toward him.
"Tara! What took you so long?" He asked. "You were supposed to meet me right here, we're officially just volunteers we're not aloud to move around."
"Shut it Eugene. I don't care what they call us, we're activists damn it." She sighed. "We're already taking these animals back upstate with us, but I wanted to save a few more."
"What now?" Charlie thought, wondering what she meant. He was a SWAT officer not a detective.
"So you just went in and took a llama? You don't even know what it's here for." Eugene responded.
"She is an Alpaca, and her name is Charlotte. I do know, poor thing was abused at a petting zoo, it said so on it's paddock. She probably wants nothing to do with people so she'll love it upstate! We even have Alpaca's here to keep her company on the trip." She explained.
Charlie realized now what was happening. The M.P.D. probably let them in to transfer some of the real animals. They're probably just allowed to be volunteers or else they'd have access to the sections which absolutely could not be shown to the public. "Okay, better say something, I'll act like someone 'tagged' me with a radio or something and tell her to put me back." He thought.
However, he didn't react in time. Just as he was about to speak up Tara removed the necklace! With a click it flung off just like that!
"Ugh, there's no reason for her to have tags of any time... especially not weird ones like this." She muttered before sliding the necklace into her bra.
"Dammit! I'm a person! Hello!?" He internally yelled, jittering in place. He reached his fluffy, long neck forward, trying to bite the necklace. Tara just hugged him, preventing him from swiping it.
"Aw baby it's okay, people won't hurt you anymore." Tara giggled, then roughly yanked the lead, forcing Charlie to walk between two metal fences. They then closed another gate behind him, forcing him to walk into the open field.
"You've gotta be kidding me." He thought with a huff, watching as the two morons walked off towards the large truck connected to the open field he now stood in.
Another Alpaca walked up to him, giving him a sniff. He moved back, nearly bumping into a goat which just bleated at him.
"Ugh, I don't need to stay here to turn back, and I'm not on the menu, so really my only long term issue is the possibility of turning back into a naked man in the middle of a field with a bunch of animals." He thought, very irritated that he let this happen.
Eugene began to walk towards the back of the truck, beginning to check it out to ensure it was ready for transport. Charlie figured he still had time, so he began to look around for anyone that could help him out of this situation.
