Showing what a Demon Hunter can do

added by O A year ago S O Mythological

Ted's eyes glint in the moonlight as he hungrily gazed at the 80 high school students standing around the bonfire. "So many victims so little time."

In life Ted had been a corporate middle manager with ambitions of climbing the ranks. At 38, Ted worried his window had closed. Too many young and hungry businessmen and women vying to climb the corporate ladder. Ted, in life, was frustrated, trying to find a way to get ahead. His window was closing, he feared he would be nothing more than another faceless drope in the corporate world. That is until he met Selene.

Ted thought very little of the old woman when he first met her. She was old, frail looking. At first Ted dismissed her until she said she could finally help him achieve his dreams. It was not the old womans words that intrigued him, it was the ruby the size of his hand that caught his attention.

Selene obviously had money, and every corporate stooge will tell you that money and power go hand in hand. Ted wanted to know Selene's secrets. What he got instead was a new life as a vampire.

Now Ted had a second chance. He felt powerful, invincible. Yes his soul was gone but he now had a chance to move up the ladder within the vampire hierarchy. All he had to do was make an impression.

"So whats the plan?"

Ted now glanced at his companion, a vampire in his mid 20s named David. David had been a vagrant in life, a man with no ambition and little leadership skills. Ted had easily manipulated David and several others into his master plan.

"We sneak in close," Ted whispered. "Pick off the ones furthest away from the fire and add them to the ranks. Then BOOM, an entire platoon of young, healthy vampires to impress Miro."

"You think Miro would hold us in higher regard than the Five," David asked.

"The Five," Ted scoffed. "I'm not impressed. Alot of sizzle and no steak. Trust me I saw guys like that in business. None of them lasted in the corporate world as long as I did."

David nodded, Ted thankful that the naive vampire believed his lies. Ted was far too proud and far too arrogant to admit his failings in life. Now with a second chance he would use his quick tongue, wit, and charisma to climb the vampire ladder of power. With luck, maybe he would even replace Miro himself.

"Whatcha doing fellas?"

Ted paused, he and David turning as they gasped in shock.

Caleb grinned, backhanding David before shooting him through the heart. The vampire bursting into flames as Ted now scrambled away.

"Its the Moreland!"

Caleb smirked as he now began to stalk the vampire. Whoever this guy was he obviously wasn't much of a threat. Still, it seemed like he had a sizable following of minions.

Vampires now lunged from the darkness, Caleb deftly destroying them with his pistol and knife. The one that had escaped turning briefly to grin maliciously as a trio of vampires now darted towards Caleb.

Caleb was expressionless, dispatching the first with a headshot before wrapping a rope around the second. As he now choked the second vampire, he withdrew a double barrel shotgun. The third vampire having its head blown clean off before he jammed the shotgun into the chest of the second, unleashing the second shell.

"Retreat," Ted yelled as he scrambled back through the woods.

Caleb continued his methodical walk, dispatching a pair of charging vampires by throwing silver stakes through their hearts. The experienced vampire hunter continuing forward, dispatching any and all vampires that got in his way.

Ted and a few surviving vampires now clumsily began to pile into the waiting SUV's they had used to arrive. As he did a quick head count he was shocked to find half the number he had arrived with. He had heard rumors of how dangerous a demon hunter was but he didn't believe it. "Get in the car! Get in the car," he bellowed. The remaining vampires now piled into a couple of SUVs.

Caleb emerged from the woods, watching as the vampires he hadn't slain pile into their waiting vehicles. As the cars now started they spun their tires before driving.

"Dont tell me you're letting them go?"

Caleb glanced at his breast pocket, Spark the fairy placing her hands on her hips as she glared up at him.

"Course not," he grumbled. "Just need a minute." Spark now flew from his pocket, the tiny nude fairy standing on his shoulder. Caleb now unshouldered his rifle, taking aim at the lead SUV.

A shot now rang from Calebs rifle, striking the lead SUV in the gas tank. An explosion of metal now engulfed the first SUV, setting the second SUV on fire, which promptly exploded. The remaining vampires reduced to ash by the experienced hunter.

"Wow great shot," Spark exclaimed.

"Not really," Caleb said softly. "I was aiming for the tires."
