Laura winced slightly at Anna's shrill cries as the year old baby let Laura know just how upset she was. She looked around for something to calm Anna down. No milk, no baby food since she was in her apartment.
Laura then had a thought and checked over the instructions that were in the box of dice. So if Anna. . .Laura let out a smile. A smile that would've worried Anna if Anna had been older. But Anna continued to cry very unhappy about how things were going.
Laura picked up Anna's die and rolled once.
“One year you have walked this Earth. Now this number is but eight months. Each roll of the die takes you closer to your mother's womb.”
Laura watched as Anna went further into infanthood, still upset enough that she didn't really notice.
Laura rolled again.
“Eight Months you have walked this Earth. Now this number is but two months. Each roll of the die takes you closer to your mother's womb.”
Anna's really noticed that she had gotten younger, going from an older infant to a younger infant in a few moment. The baby cried loudly, knowing she couldn't do anything else.
Laura smiled and then gasped slightly at a strange sensation around her chest. Her breasts felt strange and were a bit larger. She had a feeling what had happened so she pulled off her shirt, picked up Anna, and put the baby to her nipple.
Driven by a bit of hunger and instinct, Anna suckled and milk came freely.
Laura smiled as Anna had stopped crying in favor of nursing.
Laura then sighed as she looked over herself. She had gone in less than a day from a late middle age career woman to a college student and mother. It would be difficult to go to the Magic Shop today as she would have to go buy everything she needed for the trip for Anna, and then take care of the infant while going there.
Unless . . .Laura looked again at Anna's Die. It would be easier and she hoped the Magic Shop could fix everything.
Laura picked up Anna's die and rolled one last time almost impulsively.
“Two Months you have walked this Earth. Now this number is five months less. The die is no longer bonded to you, Anna Chen. Enjoy what has been returned to you.”
Laura gasped as Anna's shrank one last time and then disappeared. In the same moment, Laura's belly expanded outward in seven pregnancy.
Laura looked over herself as the college age mother turned into a pregnant college student. She noticed that the sweatshirt she had worn a minute ago was no longer fitting over her belly. But with a determined thought a bit awkward stride, she went to her door to go to the Magic Shop. The door shut and then reopened as Laura came back in, grabbed the dice and box they came in, and then left again.
