After the group photo, Crystal makes an announcement asking everyone to come out to the main field. Slowly but surely, campers emerged from the various cabins and made their way over to the field where the counselors were waiting patiently. Crystal began by asking how everyone’s first day of camp had been, which gets a murmur of approval from the crowd of campers.
“Okay, so today we are going to have a whole bunch of fun activities. I know you girls have seen the canoes we have down at the dock, and everyone will get a turn to use them later on today. We’ve also got archery, soccer, and capture the flag activities for those of you who are interested in those. Have fun ladies!”
The counselors take charge and quickly begin dividing the campers up into groups. You get assigned to the group playing soccer, while Holly is going to the group trying out archery practice. You sigh, a little disappointed—you’ve always wanted to shoot an actual bow, and having to wait to do it is annoying. Oh well, soccer should be fun.
Changing into the t-shirt and shorts the camp had given you yesterday, you head out to a large field the camp had converted into a makeshift soccer field. Two large nets sat on either side of it. The counselor in charge, a redheaded girl named Stacy, hands out red and yellow colored armbands in order to make it clear who was on which team. “I know I don’t have to explain soccer to anyone” Stacy says with a laugh. “It’s pretty simple—you can’t touch the ball with your hands unless you are the goalie, and you are trying to get it into the net. You girls ready to play?”
It’s soon pretty clear that nobody in your group has played soccer before; the game quickly turns into a group of girls more or less just running around nudging the ball up and down the field. You get a couple chances to score, but the other team’s goalkeeper manages to stop each one. The game ends with the other team managing a 1-0 win.
