Jacob Moreland was lying in his hospital bed and looked to the left where his wife usually sat but didn't see him. He looked around and noticed that the hospital sounded eerily quiet. Finally he heard footsteps coming towards the room as the lights flickered. His hospital room door opened all by itself, then the lights flickered on and off as a figure made its way over to the bed. Jacob could feel his heart pounding inside of his chest as the figure got closer to him. He looked around for a weapon but saw nothing. He then looked up to see the figure of little Ann there giving him a menacing grin as she lunged forwards to him.
"Honey, wake up! Wake up." Jacob heard his wife Nina call to him as he jolted awake. Jacob saw his wife and took in his bearings realizing that he was still safe in the hospital and looked to his right where his arm was still gone.
"God, I used to be able to see into the future. Now I only see that damn little devil of a child almost every time I shut my eyes." Jacob said to Nina.
"I know hon, and I wish there was something I could do to help you, but for now we just have to rely on our son's friends. Don't worry, there's another one of Gloria's friend's is out there guarding the door today. Now why don't you take a look at this picture that Gloria sent me." Nina said showing her husband a picture of Connor with a girl he didn't recognize.
"Who the hell is that with our boy?" Jacob asked looking closely at the girl.
"Believe it or not, that's actually Spark."
"That's Spark?"
"Yep, Gloria turned her human for the day and then Connor also got to be a fairy like Spark for a while too." Nina explained to them.
"They must've had a great day, I'm happy for him." Jacob gave a small smile.
"Well....you'll be even more happy to hear that our little man asked Spark to go to his school dance and she accepted." Nina said excitedly.
"Oh my god, he's really growing up. Say, this is all reminding me of something. Caleb brought something in the last time he was here, didn't he?" Jacob asked looking around the room.
"Yeah. But he told me not to open it until you said so." Nina said holding the wrapped gift.
"Well you can open it now." Jacob said giving his approval as Nina unwrapped the present to see it was a picture of their wedding day, but the picture had been updated so it was clearer to see and it was in a beautiful frame that his mother had mentioned to him once.
"Happy Anniversary Nina. I hope you can still love this one armed man I've become." Jacob said as Nina tried not to cry.
Nina kissed her husband on the lips and gave him a little hug.
"I love you Jacob Moreland, more than you'll ever know. It doesn't matter whether you have one arm, two arms, or even know legs, I'll love you forever." Nina said as she sat down next to him and they looked at their wedding photo again and began to reminisce about the day.
