Chad read the paper as tawny golden fur covered all his skin. It read: "Have you ever wanted to run away to join the circus? Lion Tamer Kit - 1 lion".
Chad roared in pain. The paper crumbled as his hands and feet spasmed becoming paws, he dropped to all fours then his nails grew out into claws shredding the paper and his shoes. He heard the crack of a whip and felt a stinging pain on his right butt cheek.
He spun around. There was a man in khaki safari garb complete with a pith helmet and gunbelt holding a bull whip. The color drained from Chad's vision. The Technicolor world became monochromatic. Chad roared. He was a young lion. The man grabbed a wooden chair.
"Back lion! Back, I say!" the man in the lion tamer costume ordered.
Chad backed up. He was confused. The man with the whip seemed familiar to him, he should know who he was, but since Chad changed, he was still getting a handle on his new animalistic senses. His hearing and smell senses were augmented, but his sight was strictly monochrome now.
"This will be the winning act at tomorrow's talent show. Who knows, Chad, maybe we can get a real circus gig or maybe Las Vegas?"
Chad roared in response.
