"A Golden Retriever," Dean answered, "and make it so everyone knows you're my puppy and that no one remembers you ever existed as my brother, okay?"
"Uh, you know this just for a week, right?"
"Huh? Oh, sure, Jeff. But make sure that you think you're just my puppy too. If you remember who you were there won't be any challenge. Now what should I name you?"
"Jeff?" Jeff suggested.
Dean rolled his eyes. "Jeff isn't a dog's name. Maybe Goldy, Champ, or Prince. Fido's too old school. Maybe Blondie or Max? I'll wait until you transform, then I'll name you."
"I kind of want to be aware."
"No, that would ruin it. I have to be able to train the puppy, and if you're aware, you'll just be roleplaying. I want you to be all puppy for reals. Puh-lease, bro. Like you said it's only one week, right?"
Jeff had gone this far. He shrugged. What did it matter if he was unaware for a week?
Jeff started typing into the Chronivac.
Dean grinned. He had read up on the Chronivac. You couldn't shorten the duration once a transformation was engaged, but it was real easy to extend. He was going to have his puppy, and it wouldn't just be for a week. He glanced at the clock, he'd better call the veterinarian's office and make an appointment for Champ's shots and neutering. Jeff wouldn't like it, but it was the responsible thing for a dog owner to do.
