There was a wizard who lived not too far from the castle city of Magica, living in a cottage turned laboratory. He went by the name of Bachus, and he was considered the wisest and longest lived being in all the kingdom.
One day he was brought before the court of Princess Arianna, as he’d been the royal family’s advisor for many generations. Of course, when the princess laid eyes on the wizard, her nose turned immediately up at him.
“I am to be advised on how to rule my kingdom?” she scoffed, “And by this decrepit, old, disfigured creature? Feh! I’d sooner take advice from a hog! Your nose is like a warty toad, and your filthy beard is dragging on my floor! Your presence displeases me, for not only do I not need whatever doddering advice you might peddle, I have no want of any advice from something as ugly as yourself!”
Bachus the wizard of course was most incensed by Arianna’s insults. To think that the family he’d advised for years could have produced this horrible brat! Unthinkable! He resolved that she would have to be taught humility before it was too late. With a wave of his hand he bellowed.
“Princess Arianna, thine insults are unbecoming of a person of thine’s station! I hereby place a curse upon thee! At precisely sunrise tomorrow, thou shalt awaken to thine new existence, and remain as such until thou hast learned thine lesson in humility!”
