Some things aren't meant to happen. Some things have no desire to happen. Some things take no pleasure in happening. Some things are forced to happen, because of the deniable rules that have been established demand they happen. These things can be ignored, and perhaps some of them should be ignored. But in some twist and branch of fate, they did happen.
These things were not intended as spiteful reversals of other events, though sadly could be interpreted as such, so the fates could only hope those who ended up ensnared in such things were forgiving. And allowed for these events to stand, even if they were not part of their own branch of fate.
What Sparks hadn't expected was to find a pair of little burly blue fairies with sunglasses waiting for her when she got home. While shaped like males, they lacked the thing that humans had, since fairies didn't reproduce that way.
"Excuse us, you are -" the fairy said a mixture of sounds no human could remember, Spark's fae name. "-correct?"
"... That's me."
"And you made a mortal human a temporary fae this afternoon?"
"... Yes?" Sparks had a bad feeling in the pit of her stomach.
"We are not Unseelie, we have laws, madam," said one of the face calm but politely. "And you know that you are responsible for all actions performed by any human while a temporary fae transformed by you yes?"
"... I explained that all to him."
"We're going to have to ask you to come with us to explain this."
"Explain what?!"
"You are aware of the trickster code that state any mortal changed into a child, physically and mentally, will be under the protection of the innocent magic consent laws yes?"
"I explained that to him too!"
"Then care to explain while your quota book on Avalon filled in to included the transformation of a mortal adult into a child... and then back... but without the mark of the child giving consent to be transformed into an adult?"
"... UH-oh." Sparks whispered. She'd forgotten. Yes. It was established centuries before. A mortal changed into child, did indeed count as a child, and therefore, had to give permission to be turned back into an adult...
Sparks felt fear at the idea of being turned into a flower, or be legally considered an Unseelie (and thus have no legal protection among fae), or be turned into a fountain, or a mirror frame, or any other number of things as an example to fae who knowingly violated the rules.
Not for a moment did she blame Connor. It had been her idea to turn him into a fae after experiencing a day as a human herself. She had explained the rules to him. She was the one who hadn't stopped him when she knew how the rules worked.
If she was lucky, she'd just have to restore the heiress, no farm, no fowl, and get off with a warning given her lifetime of ensuring the Seelie's fragile treaty among humans... If she was unlucky...
