Meanwhile, a group of six boys between 10 and 16 walk past Jeff's house, the 16-year-old looks towards the house and notices the open window. “Hey guys, look,” he says, pointing to the open window, “I think we found a great test for our Rookie”.
A other boy looks at the older boy, “what do you mean, boss,” he asks.
The “boss” rolls his eyes, “gee, you are so thick, Jason,” he says, “it is simple, “Rookie” here,” he says, pointing at the 10-year-old, “will climb up that tree near the window and climb into the house. He'll have the task to steal anything, if he is successful and not seen, he'll be our newest member”.
“Oh...,” Jason says, everyone turns to the 10-year-old.
“Rookie” looks at the older boys, “bu-but... breaking in is bad,” he says.
The other boys laugh, “bad? Maybe, but it is a thrill and it'll prove you are not a scardy-cat,” the “boss” says, “you want to be tough like us, right?”
The “Rookie” gulps then nods his head, “y-yeah... I am tired of being bullied and tired of being a weakling”.
“Well, then get your ass up that tree,” the “boss” says, “oh... and try to steal something of value”.
“Ye-yes, sir,” the boy says, he walks up towards the house, while the other boys hide behind some bushes. “Rookie” starts to climb the tree, his body is athletic and flexible, the boy's hair is black and he has brown eyes. He is wearing a pair of white sneaker, a blue plain t-shirt, white socks and some brown cargo shorts.
It only takes “Rookie” five minutes to reach the branch, which is nearest to the open window, the boy lies down on his tummy and slowly edges his way towards the window. Once he is near enough to make a jump, he carefully gets to his feet, he stables himself and with one leap he jumps into the house.
Jeff hears a thumbing sound behind him, but he just assumes that something has fallen onto his floor.
“Rookie” looks around the room, 'this looks like the room of a 16-year-old,' he thinks to himself, 'hm... what is here that has value?'
The boy soon spots Jeff's laptop, which is still running with the program activated, 'hm... that laptop would be good,' the boy thinks to himself. “Rookie” walks up to the desk and looks at the screen, 'Chrinovac? Must be a new game,' he thinks, he then shrugs as he simply shuts of the Laptop and unplugs it. 'Now I need to find something to put it in to,' the boy looks around and spots Jeff's backpack, 'perfect,' he thinks. The 10-year-old walks over to Jeff's bed and grabs the backpack, he then walks back to the desk and puts the laptop, mouse, mouse pad and cables into the bag. 'Anything else I could take,' he thinks to himself, his eyes then land on a cardboard box, standing in front of a mirror. “Rookie's” eyes widen as he sees what it is in the mirror's reflection, “no freaking way,” he mutters, walking over and picking the item up, “this shouldn't be released until next year. It is the special edition of Bumblebee... this is worth a lot”.
Jeff suddenly hears an unfamiliar voice, 'hu... who's that in my room,' he then feels hands grab and lift him up. He suddenly finds himself face to face with a strange boy, he has never seen before, “who the hell are you,” Jeff shouts, of course the boy does not hear him.
“I think I'll keep this for myself,” the 10-year-old says, he puts the toy car into the backpack and zips it shut, then he walks to the window.
Jeff is shocked as he finds himself inside a backpack, he does not recognize his laptop, he assumes the backpack along with the laptop belongs to the kid. 'Am... Am I being stolen by this kid,” he asks himself.
Meanwhile, “Rookie” carefully looks out the window, seeing no one in sight he grabs for the branch and climbs out of the window. The boy then crawls along the branch and descends the tree, once he touched down, the boy pauses, straightens and looks around, then he cautiously walks down the lawn and onto the sidewalk. He starts to walk down the road, acting as natural as possible, he hears footsteps behind him and he freezes.
“Keep walking,” he hears the commanding voice of his “boss” say.
“Rookie” nods and continues to walk, he walks down the sidewalk until he reaches the city park, he heads towards the park, knowing the group will follow. The boy enters the park and heads for a group of trees.
“Good thinking,” he hears the “boss” say, “we'll be undisturbed, at this time of day, no one will be in that forest”.
Once deep in the forest “Rookie” stops and turns around, “so, what do you have,” the “boss” asks.
“Well, I have stolen a Laptop, this backpack and a toy car,” the boy says, taking off the backpack and putting it in front of him.
“Oh, really,” the “boss” says, “let's see,” he kneels down and opens the backpack and peers inside. The “boss” takes out the toy car and looks at it, “a special edition of Bumblebee,” he asks, “it is pretty cool looking, but... it is the toy for a nerd”. The “boss” then simply throws the “toy” over his shoulder and into the bushes.
“Rookie” follows the “toy” with his eyes, 'don't worry car,' he thinks to himself, 'I'll come back for you later'.
“Now THIS,” the “boss” then says, pulling out the laptop, “is a pretty awesome gaming laptop,” he opens it, “it has LED lights and a huge memory and a great graphic card”. The “boss” then puts the Laptop back into the backpack, zips it up and throws it over his own shoulder, “I'll be keeping this laptop, I can sell my old laptop and we'll split the cash”. He then looks at Rookie, “I guess you earned a spot in our group,” he says, “so, welcome to the Bad Boys Gang”.
“Rookie” hears the rest of the boys cheer and clap, then they just leave him standing there as the “boss” turns and starts to leave. The boy is unsure what to do, should he simply follow or grab the toy car and head for home?
