Allie, Presley, Diane, and Matilda were sitting together during their lunch period between classes.
All of them had finished eating, and on this particular day, they had another two hours to kill.
“Do you think it’s time?” Allie asked,
“Really?” Presley complained, knowing Allie was going to ask about her ‘special game’ again,
“Seriously!!” Allie said loudly, “we’ve never had a better time play. We have two hours, and by the time we’re done, everyone forgets and we go back to class!” She defended herself,
“What about—” Presley started, but was interrupted by Matilda,
“Prez, we have to give her credit here,” Matilda started, “if there was ever a time to play, it would be now. We have enough time and space and it isn’t going to interrupt your studies either,”
“How do you know it won’t?” Presley asked, trying to catch her friend off guard,
“Everyone and their grandma knows exactly how you study,” Diane states, making everyone but Presley chuckle, “and against everything I’ve said before… this would be the best time to play it,” she said, finishing her point.
“Three against one, Prezzie!!” Allie said, holding her hands up in the air, knowing she had officially won her battle.
“Fine!” Presley said, crossing her arms, “yes, I suppose if we were going to play the game at any point…” she looked to her other two friends for approval, instead she got giant smirks against her, “right now would be the least… interruptive,” she stated, admitting defeat.
“YES!!” Allie said, cheering for herself, “finally!” She said, holding out her hands, “grab hands everyone!”
“W-wait we’re doing it right now?” Presley asked, taken aback,
“Yeah I’ll second that,” Diane stated, “can we have like two minutes of prep time,”
“You and your sports lingo…” Allie mocked, “no. We can’t,”
“Why not?” Diane asked,
“Because Presley will chicken out and we’ll have to play with three players, which is lame,” Allie explained,
“Eh, she has a point,” Matilda said to the other two, she placed her hand onto Allie’s,
“Yeah, I guess. But can I get a drink after we start or is that not allowed in the game?” Diane asked, placing her hand onto Allie’s other hand,
“No, I’m pretty sure you can,” Allie said, “Prezzie?” She said, looking at her friend, who was still on the fence about joining,
“I’m just not sure,” Presley said,
“C’mon, it’ll be fun,” Diane said,
“And over in an hour,” Matilda said, “giving you enough time to ‘prep’ yourself for the next real period,”
“I-I guess so,” Presley agreed, placing her hand onto Matilda’s. She hesitated when raising her hand to Diane. She looked at Allie in the eyes, she knew this was something she’d been wanting to do for over six months. What the hell, it’ll be over before she even realises.
Presley grabbed Diane’s hand, completing the four player circle.
Allie cleared her throat, then said, “Transform or Dare Together!” She announced excitedly.
All four players felt it, a strange sensation. It felt like… the start of the game.
“We did it!” Allie said happily,
“So who starts first?” Diane asked,
“Umm, I think it’s always the oldest that starts first,” Allie stated,
“Oh, great. I guess I start first,” Diane said, “who’s transforming me?”
“I am,” Presley said.
