The Magic Shop

The Boss demonstrates the pecking order

added by O A year ago BM O Magic

Evan scowled as he now stormed towards the Bosses office. Who did this guy think he was? With a wave of his hand the heavy oak doors of the Bosses office now splintered, sailing everywhere. "We need to talk!"

The Boss now curiously gazed at Evan as Casseus scowled at the young wizard. "I take it your upset," the Boss asked. "Can I ask why?"

"Who the hell do you think you are," Evan yelled. "Going after the Catalyst! With a vampire no less. A vampire! You got a set of stones on you pal."

"Mind your tongue boy," Casseus scowled as he now prepared a spell.

"Or what sunshine," Evan scoffed. "Like you can do anything. Please, you're nothing but a sniveling lackey."

"You dare!"

"Yeah bitch I dare," Evan countered, glaring at Casseus. "What are you going to do about it?" As Casseus now moved to attack, the Boss held up his hand calming Casseus for a moment. The hooded figure now quietly stared at a visibly angry Evan. "I take it your upset."

"Really no shit," Evan scoffed. "The Catalyst is mine and what the hell is a vampire doing here? Do you have any idea what they did to my mother? Also, what the fuck is MY AUNT doing in a glass fucking tube!"

"They're insurance," the Boss replied calmly. "And I'm well aware of your families history with vampires. That's why I revived little Ann. I have use for her talents."

"No," Evan exclaimed. "The vampire is a no go! Put her back on ice or I take her out. Also get my aunt out of that freezer. Who do you think your dealing with?"

"A boy with alot of power and a short temper," the Boss said slowly. Evan turned red with anger, the ground beneath him cracking from the power he was generating.

"I'm warming you," Evan threatened. "Anything that goes on here has to run through me first. Got it!"

"Oh," the Boss said. "So your in charge now I see. Yes, yes, I can see why you would think that. Allow me though to show you why I AM the Boss. Casseus."

Casseus smirked, glaring at Evan before snapping his fingers. Evan gasped, his body felt weak, he couldn't breath. The young wizard now collapsing to his knees as he gasped for air.

"Having trouble," the Boss asked.

"Whats happening," Evan choked.

"Oh this," the Boss replied casually. "A bit of insurance for me. Thats just Casseus sucking the life out of you. You see, I needed his help in resurrecting you. But, since you acting like such a brat I've asked him to take it back. I can't have some mad dog running around thinking he owns the place."

Evan continued to gasp, glancing at his hands the young wizards eyes went wide. Evans hands began to look grey, like a corpse. His joints ached, his muscles burned, it felt like he was dying all over again. "Stop it!"

"I'm sorry I didn't quite catch that can you speak up?"

"STOP IT," Evan yelled. The Boss nodded, motioning towards Casseus who now ended his spell. Evan was free once more, gasping for air as he gazed at the Boss.

"How that phrase go," the Boss asked curiously. "I brought you into this world I can take you out? Yeah, thats it." The Boss now stood, slowly walking towards where Evan was recovering. Reaching down he now cupped the man's chin as he raised it so he could look into his eyes.

"See in my case thats absolutely true," the Boss stated, Evan could almost sense the smirk oh the hooded figures face. "You see Evan, despite your strength, your power all you are to me is a tool. A tool I wield to further my goals, not yours."

Evan grit his teeth, still in too much pain to say anything. "Whatever my plans are Evan," the Boss said. "Are my plans. I don't have to run anything by you. I humor you in much the same way a cat would humor a mouse by letting it take a piece of cheese. There's a pecking order here kid and your nowhere near the top. We have an understanding?"

"Yeah," Evan spat as he sloqly stood.

"Excellent," the Boss said happily. "Allow me to address your concerns though. Ann is none of your concern. I don't care what she did or how she hurt your family. She works for me, answers to me, and if I want you two to work together your only response should be yes sir."

Evan said nothing, narrowing his eyes as the Boss continued. "As far as your Aunt Morgan goes," he said. "Thats once again none of your concern. Ill let her out when I'm good and ready and when I do she will answer to me and me alone. Do you understand?"

"Yes sir," Evan growled.

"Good," the Boss said happily. "No hard feelings Evan. I like you, I see you doing great things for the Normal. Just understand though, its my way or the hard way. We clear?"

"Crystal," Evan grumbled.

The Boss nodded exiting the room as Casseus now chuckled at the young wizard. "Not so high and mighty now. Are you boy?"

Evan said nothing as he watched Casseus follow the Boss out of the room. "Make sure you clean up your mess Evan," Casseus called. "Id hate to see the Boss upset with you once again." Evan could only growl, trying to figure out a way free himself from the Normals control.
