Jamie Williams found the CYOC site quite by accident. She had been researching something else when she came across a link to it buried deep on a message board. Surely the claims that anything written on the site would become reality couldn’t possibly be true. Although skeptical, she knew she had to at least try it. If nothing else, maybe she would at least get some amusing fiction out of the whole thing.
Yet she was hesitant to write about herself, just in the off chance this site happened to be real. She needed someone to test it out on first. Jamie immediately thought of the perfect candidate, her close friend Nate. They had known each other since the fifth grade and managed to maintain that friendship, even grow it, over the years until now when they were halfway through their Senior Year. Even though he had never directly admitted it to her, she knew he long held transformation fantasies. And how fun would it be if one of those fantasies were to suddenly and unexpectedly come true, she thought.
Jamie sat in front of the computer, deep in thought. The question was what would she have him turn into. There were so many options as they floated through her head. It had to be something cool and dramatic. Now was the perfect time as his folks and younger brother were out of town for a Hockey Tournament, so he would be undisturbed. Still, the question remained what to turn him into. Nate had so many different fantasies over the years. Most were inspired by movies, whether it be a litany of werewolf movies, that Disney movie where the boy turns into a dog or even various fantasy films where he’d make off-hand remarks about how cool it would be to be a dragon or a Merman or a Satyr or a Centaur.
Still, the question remained what to turn him into? She really cared about him, so she didn’t want to turn him into an outright monster. Thinking that, she made a note to make sure to include no matter what he turned into, he kept his human mind and disposition. Having him become some ravenous monster terrorizing the neighborhood would just be too much. She got up and paced the room a bit, trying to imagine the transformation her friend would go through for each one until she finally decided. Inspiration struck as she sat down at the keyboard and began typing. She could only imagine how shocked he’ll be when his changes start…
