Your photo is a better one that you are used to. A pretty average looking brown-haired and brown-eyed white guy. The staff member, a blonde teenaged girl - still gawky and slightly awkward compares it to a tablet she holds. She smiles when she finds your name in the list, flashing a mouth full of braces. "Mr. Bell! You are ready to go. Your card entitles you to check out any three titles at a time normally but for the first week we ask that our community members only take one book. If you run into any trouble finding the book you are looking for there are kiosks you can call a staff member from. Have a great day and enjoy your life!"
You laugh a bit and thank her as you take your library card back. The library is a modern granite and glass building and as the crowds are filtering in you can see them wandering among the shelves and the various rooms and multi-purpose spaces of the library. The entrance is a multi-story atrium with a polished granite floor that surrounds a circular desk with a trio of young staff members answering questions from several lines of guests. You maneuver around them and encounter a large metal sign posted at the edge of the entrance area outlining the library's major sections, subsections and things like "The Creativity Lab" and "The Quiet Room".
You scan the long list of sections and subsections and find they start fairly normally, "Fiction", "Biography", "Comics & Manga", but the subsections are stranger and stranger. A "Maternity and Parenting" section is right by "Little People: Faerie Stories" in the Non-fiction setting and further down the Biography section has divisions like "Historical Witches" and "Exceptional Animals Through Time". You spot one, out of all the others, that calls out to you most of all and you turn on your heel, headed to the section titled....
