The photo you uploaded is not one that shows off your good side, something you've always struggled to find. Shoulder length brown hair falls down in a curtain partially obscuring a long face spattered with freckles. A faded and somewhat threadbare hoody piles up on your shoulders, a slight stain you hadn't noticed until just now visible at the left armpit. Your name (Andi Axel) and age (19) are both listed beneath a blue logo depicting the name of the Littlewood Library of Lives. As the line proceeds the young woman checking library cards glances yours over and compares it to a list on a tablet. She looks a few years younger than you and seems bubbly, very excited to be here on this sunny autumnal morning.
"Alright Miss Axel, you're all set! Normally you can check out three titles, but for our first week we have a one-per-visitor policy for all titles. If you get lost look for info kiosks and other staff with a blue lanyard like mine. Enjoy your visit and enjoy your life!" You nod, somewhat surprised by the pep and verve the young woman displays for what has to be a pretty repetitive task and take your card back, mumbling a thank you to the young woman. The automatic glass doors whisper open in front of you as you enter into the modern granite and glass building.
Just past the doors is a large atrium with a round desk currently surrounded by many guests. Others have found their way to maps and signs displaying all sorts of information about the different sections and areas of the library. You stop for the briefest moment to take it in and the crowd flows around you, jostling you a bit as they make their way to some of the digital kiosks under hanging signs. After just a moment you step into the line by one of the kiosks. The cheerful crowd is full of conversation, chatter and laughter and you feel like you have no place in it, stuck in your own head about how few people you know here in town now that most of your friends left for college elsewhere rather than hanging out at Littlewood Community.
The line for the kiosk nudges forwards over a few minutes and when you arrive you see a simple keyboard beneath a screen. The screen has the Littlewood Library of Lives logo on it, and a text field with a simple question above it, "What kind of life are you interested in today?" You glance around and guess this has something to do with the theme of the whole place, of books and lives. After a moment you type in an answer...
