(The previous chapters had a mistake. The Chronivac is a device with a program, not a program by itself, so you can't just go to your computer and use it, you need to point the device at someone also.)
Veronica was shocked. How could the guidance counselors get away with this?
The answer was obvious, though. The Chronivac has an awareness setting. If she changed someone and he tried to tell other people about the changes, nobody would believe him.
Only Ron was different. Her fathers already knew about the device. She could tell them what had happened and they'd believe her.
She went home and yelled "Dad!"
Which was a favorite thing for her to yell because when she did, two people would reply.
Kyle and Trevor both came into the room.
"Dad... either of you, the guidance counselor has a Chronivac. She made me a girl."
"Really?" asked Kyle. "You don't have a penis any more, Veronica?"

Kyle thought about it and said "Hmm... I don't know. It does seem strange."
"Anyway, I'd like to borrow the Chronivac. You do still have it somewhere, right?"
"It doesn't work," said Trevor. "We lost the software, and it doesn't run on any computer we have anyway."
"I know," said Veronica. "But I can plug it in and try to find some cracked version of the software on the Internet. Maybe I can find a version that runs on a new computer."
"But that's dangerous!" said Kyle. "What if the cracked version doesn't work right?"
"Then you can go to Miss Grievie, tell her what happened, and ask her to fix it."
"It's against my better judgment," said Kyle, "but okay." Trevor soon agreed too.
Veronica sat down in front of her computer and plugged the Chronivac in, then started up the software she had downloaded from Cracks 'R Us. Everything seemed okay. The machine certainly didn't catch on fire. She navigated through the menus and decided to start with something fairly simple....
