“Todd…Todd…”
Todd stirred slightly in his sleep, but didn’t show any signs of waking up.
“Todd! Wake up!”
The feeling of someone shaking his body was enough to make Todd’s eyes open slightly. Standing over him was the blurry figure of Sam. He could tell something was different about him, but without his glasses, he couldn’t tell exactly what it was.
“Mmmm…Sam…?” Todd asked groggily. “What…what time is it?”
“It’s 7:45 in the morning,” Sam said. “You gotta check this shit out though!”
Todd yawned and sat up in bed, grabbing his glasses off the nightstand and putting them on his face. As his vision cleared, he began to look Sam up and down.
“You’ve got new ears,” Todd commented with a yawn. “And your hair…it looks really good…”
“That’s not all that changed bro,” Sam said with a sly grin. “You want to see?”
“Yeah…sure…” Todd said, letting out another yawn. Sam proceeded to shake his head. “Too bad, because you’re gonna have to wait.”
“Aww come on…”
“Okay, enough about my changes! Let’s see if you’ve changed any in your sleep!” Todd blushed and slowly removed his comforter, his eyes widening at what he saw.
Instead of seeing the body that he had grown up disappointed with, he saw the body of a runner. He had gotten a bit slimmer, with a fair amount of stomach fat having wasted away to show a fairly toned pair of abs. His upper chest was a bit bigger, his shoulders a little broader. Todd couldn’t help himself from grinning.
He felt good. Really good.
“God damn! Talk about a glow up!” Sam laughed. “I didn’t know you could get fit in your sleep! You gotta tell me your secret!” Todd laughed a bit, blushing the whole time.
After staying quiet for a minute, he spoke up and said “We should…t-talk to Milo s-soon…”
“About what?” Sam questioned.
Todd’s face turned redder. “Our p-pictures…You know…f-for his p-project…”
Sam seemed genuinely surprised by his response. “But I thought you were still thinking about it?”
Todd broke eye contact with Sam, his face still red as a tomato. “W-Well…I was…” he explained, twiddling his thumbs. “But last…last night…I…I realized I w-wanted to r-r-remember these m-m-moments with…with you…”
Sam grinned and ruffled the hair on Todd’s head before he had an idea. He began to gently scratch the area right behind Todd’s ear, making sure to watch his expression.
“S-Sam? Wh-what are…what are you…” Todd’s voice trailed off as he leaned his head back with his eyes closed. As his tongue automatically lolled out of his mouth, his right leg began to twitch incessantly. Sam couldn’t help but laugh a bit at how genuinely canine-like his friend was reacting. Well, pretty soon he would be a canine. After a minute or two, Sam stopped scratching and Todd came back to his senses.
“Huh? What just…o-oh God…” Upon realizing what had just happened, Todd covered his face in embarrassment. “I can’t believe I did that. Oh God, why did I do that?!”
Sam quickly started feeling bad upon seeing Todd’s reaction. “Hey, I was just messing around with you, little buddy,” he said, wrapping his arm around Todd. “I figured since you were turning into a wolf, you’d like that, and you seemed to be enjoying it, so I kept going. If I knew that you’d get really embarrassed, I definitely wouldn’t have done that. Besides, it was actually pretty damn cute…”
Todd’s ears perked up. “You think so?” he asked, to which Sam nodded. “Well, I guess it wasn’t so bad…maybe we could try it again soon?”
Sam grinned and nodded. “Sure thing. Now come on, get dressed so we can go get some food. I can text Milo to see if he and Daryl want to meet us and get our pictures taken after.”
