On her way back, she thought back to the woman and her treats, “I guess it would be alright to get some additional treats?” She muttered to herself. Dad had only brought food and other stuff for one dog.
“So Shooter 1, Shooter 2 and Shooter 3,” She called out, the dogs paused to look back, “We are going to make a small detour, to the Pet store. IF you three are well behaved, I might be willing to buy some treats and toys.”
She was glad the three weren't that aerodynamic because the tails started to resemble airplane rotors instead of dog tails. And oh boy, the tugging... She was glad Shooter hadn't been a husky, although the image of her dog sledding did pass though her head.
“Boys! Boys! Easy!” She almost lost her footing there.
Tina noticed and growled at the other two and nipping at them.
The two stopped tugging and whimpered... looking abashedly at the ground.
“Hey, hey, none of that now,” Mom lovingly pet the three dogs, “Mommy's just not able to keep up with your excitement. We are very close and you deserve it. Just keep in mind that there are three of you and you are so very, very strong.”
The two dogs jumped up and started licking her cause her to laugh.
Tina however started growling, and assumed a defensive posture for a threat behind her.
She hadn't had time to turn around but put herself between whatever it was behind and her youngest two.
“We'll take them of your hands,” The voice was demanding, grating and had a finality to it, as if the whole deal had already been decided.
“Excuse me?” Mom turned to see the woman who spoke.. and her son.. She didn't like how he looked at her dogs.
“I heard you, you don't want your dogs. My son will give them a better home.”
Tina growled again. Matching the thoughts of her mother.
“Your son?”
“He deserves them!”
“You'd steal my kids?”
“You just said you didn't want them. Well, my son does! Besides you have three. If anything we'd be doing you a favor.”
“Lady, I am not parting with any of my dogs. I'd be more inclined to unleash them and have them run and hide instead of you and your son even laying a finger on them.”
She unclipped Tina, who ran to her younger siblings.
“PUPPY!!” the boy cried as he left his mother's side, attempting to run after the dog.
Things went from bad to worse as the mother used the slight distraction to push her away, running after her son and towards the dogs.
