A quick trip to the clothing store found Laura and Kaitlin dressed rather fashionably. Deciding on jeans, fitted t-shirts, and heels, the two twenty somethings appeared to everyone like two young adults out for an evening of fun.
Pulling into the restaurant, Laura and Kaitlin now entered, both women smirking as they made their way to a booth. "Hey Laura check it out. That guy is definitely checking you out."
Laura glanced towards the bar, noticing a young man looking over the leggy brunette. "Cmon Kaitlin he's too young," Laura chuckled. "He can't be more than..."
"Twenty five," Kaitlin grinned. "Maybe twenty six. News flash Laura thats our age now."
Laura paused, Kaitlin had a point. They were young adults once more, young professionals who would attract the attention of other young professionals in a romantic way. This struck Laura like a bolt of lightning. It had been so long since sha had been on a date, to think that this was a possibility once more astound her.
"Ladies."
Laura and Kaitlin turned as the writer now approached them. Curiously they watched as he now placed a pair of drinks in front of them. "From the gentlemen at the bar," he stated, gesturing towards to young men giving the two women a flirtatious smile. Laura and Kaitlin smiled, raising their drinks in acknowledgement as the waiter now placed down two menus. This was going to be an eventful dinner for sure.
As Laura and Kaitlin now enjoyed a fun evening, Anna Chen began her nightly routine. At 63 years of age, Anna had taken this janitorial job to earn a few extra bucks in her retirement. The job itself wasn't terrible and provided enough money for Anna to live comfortably. As she now entered Lauras office, she began to empty the trash cans before pausing.
"Huh whats this?"
Anna now approached Lauras desk, the elderly woman's eyes drawn to two shimmering objects on Lauras desk. Anna had a very good memory and knew these didn't belong here. Tentatively the woman now picked them up. "Dice," she asked.
The dice themselves didn't seem like anything out of the ordinary. Still, they seemed to glow with an almost supernatural light. "I wonder where Ms. Peters got these," she whispered. "They certainly are very pretty."
Anna shrugged, she could look at them later. Right now she needed to get her work done. Without thinking Anna now put them back on the desk, unknowingly rolling Laura and Kaitlin's dice.
