The transformation virus stunned the world when it was confirmed to have the ability to transform humans into human/animal hybrids and in some cases change a person’s gender. Lucky with the advancements in modern science a vaccine was found.
The problem, like a lot of problems was the cost of said vaccines, the rush to develop and produce the vaccine had driven up the price and that was before limited stock raised the price. As such those with lesser or no means couldn’t afford to get the vaccine.
This caused the virus to spread among them and transform a larger percentage of their population then normal.
Even now as prices for the vaccine fell it is still out of reach for the poor and homeless. This has caused a larger number of those transformed to be homeless people living on the streets of one major city or another.
It is now common to see a homeless animal hybrid begging for food in the streets or digging through trashcans. Some of these homeless where once wealthy humans but where kicked out by human society making them homeless.
Like before the larger society doesn’t care about these people and are generally looked at with an uncaring eye.
This has led to rumor/urban legend of hidden animal human communities in abounded subway tunnels in larger cities. Whole communities where transformed people live their new life in the shadows of the human society. Where children are born not human but different hybrids.
While this hasn’t been confirmed, there are early signs that in these homeless unvaccinated communities are breeding grounds for new strains of the virus, strains that may be able to not only be slightly more infectious but could totally bypass the vaccine as a whole and plunge the whole world into a new animal transformation virus.
