Laura is awoken from a deep sleep by a putrid smell. She opens her eyes and shifts slightly. The warm, smelly mush in her diaper moves with her. Great she pooped herself again. Laura sits up, blinking in the darkness. She’s not sure what time it is, but it’s clearly the middle of the night. Kaitlin is definitely asleep.
Laura looks around the room, wondering if she might be able to climb out of the crib and find a new diaper to change herself into. Her eyes land on something with a blinking light. She squints. Just barely, she can make out the outline of a baby monitor. Perfect!
Laura takes a deep breath to prepare, then lets loose the loudest wail she can muster. She continues to cry as loudly as she can until the door to the guest room opens. The light turns on, revealing Kaitlin, who visibly just woke up.

“Do you need to pee, too?”
“Um.”
“Never mind, I’ll definitely have to change you in the morning anyways, so it doesn’t matter if you have to go number one, too,” Kaitlin says. She pops a pacifier into Laura’s mouth, lays her on her back, and changes her into a fresh diaper. “There!”
“Fank oo,” Laura mumbles around the pacifier.
“No problem. Just try not to have another smelly surprise for me in the morning, okay?”
“No control.”
“…Yeah. I know.” Kaitlin puts Laura back in the crib and leaves the room, turning the light off on her way out. Laura curls up in the crib, still suckling on the pacifier. She feels a small spurt of pee enter her diaper, but ignores it.
