"Can I remember some stuff? Like, things I've learned about?" The girl asked.
"Hm." Amy got out her owners manual. Sure enough, there was an option for it, but she recalled what Paige had said about the technology being unreliable. "I can try." She pressed a few buttons on the watch.
Kimmy's clothing morphed, and she was now wearing a similar outfit, but smaller and more frilly, obviously meant for a younger girl. Her discarded clothing vanished. She smiled up at Amy. "I'm ready to go back to Madison now."
Taking the younger girl by the hand, Amy walked her back. "Oh, Madison looks kind of tired, doesn't she?"
Kimmy nodded. "Yeah. Could you make her a little younger? Please?"
"Sure thing." She aimed the watch at Madison, who slipped below 30. She started looking healthier, and was sitting up straighter, looking more alert. "Hey how old is your Dad?"
"Um, he's 38."
"So we better not make her too young. People might talk if he was married to a teenager, huh?"
Kimmy laughed. "They already say that. Keep going a little more."
28, 27, 26, 25...Madison's hair seemed glossier, and her skin gained a youthful glow. At 24, Kimmy indicated that was enough. Madison's outfit had become more revealing, suitable for a young woman in her 20's. Like with Kimmy, she would retain her knowledge, but be ignorant that she was supposed to be nearly a decade older. This had the unintended (but welcome) side effect of making both her and Kimmy more intelligent and academically gifted, though Amy didn't know that.
She brought Kimmy to the youthened Madison, who smiled. "Hey kiddo!"
Kimmy ran up to her stepmother, who caught her in a hug. "Maddy! I'm sorry for running off!"
"It's ok honey." Madison looked up at Amy. "Thanks so much! You deserve a reward!"
Amy shook her head. "No need, Kimmy is such a sweet girl."
Kimmy turned. "Oh I forgot to ask your name! I'm sorry."
"It's fine, hon. I'm Amy."
"Will I ever see you again?" Kimmy looked up at Amy with big blue eyes, and the older girl's heart melted. It was hard to believe this was the same entitled brat from before!
"Oh, uh, maybe...?"
Madison spoke up. "Absolutely you will, Kimmy. Amy, we'd like to have you over for dinner. It's the least we can do. Here, let's exchange numbers, and we can plan a date."
At the word 'date', Amy had an idea. "Oh, well, thank you. Would it be ok if I brought a friend?"
Madison looked to Kimmy. "What do you think, baby?"
Kimmy beamed up at her beloved stepmother. "Yes!"
"Then it's settled." Numbers were exchanged, and Madison and her little girl waved before heading to the theatre (now off to see a movie suitable for younger audiences than before).
Amy felt elated. She could do a lot of good with the Retro watch! She then realized she didn't have Paige's number, so she decided to...
