"Just stop this" James, who was getting tired of this entirely demeaning charade by now "You've had your fun but you will have to let me go at some point and then we'll see how the police feel about this clinic of yours"
"You still don't get it do you?" Dr Stevens sighed "You will only leave here in animal form. The police aren't going to listen to a cat or a monkey and they wouldn't be able to understand you anyway"
"Do you realise how crazy you sound?" James retorted, unable to contain his anger any longer "This isn't a fairy tale, you aren't a witch and you don't have magic powers!"
For a moment Dr Stevens usually cool demeanour was betrayed by a definite hint of annoyance. James looked up to see Denise looking a strange mixture of aghast and excited. Like something bad was about to happen, but not to her. Eventually the doctor composed herself, looked directly at the naked man and spoke.
"You think what I do is a joke? Something you would compare to a story designed to amuse a child?" she seethed.
"Look, you are obviously a very talented hypnotist..." James began to backtrack a little, given the position he was in, but the doctor raised a hand to silence him.
"If it is witches and fairy tales you want then I think I shall turn you into a frog" the doctor smiled.
"Look. I wasn't.." James began. He knew he couldn't actually be transformed, but the idea of hopping naked around Dr Stevens office was a scenario he would prefer to avoid. However, he wasn't permitted to finish his sentence.
"Silence. Now I want you to squat down on the floor in front of me, legs spread apart, palms flat down on the floor in front of you" the Dr ordered.
James slowly slid off the chair and into a deep frog squat as instructed. He was already regretting his decision to challenge the doctor, but things were only going to get worse for him.
"When you speak I wish for you to ribbit loudly at the start and end of each sentence" the doctor commanded James "Now tell me, do you still not believe I can transform you into a frog?"
"Ribbit! I believe you can certainly make me act like one Ribbit!" James responded. This was hardly a fair debate with the doctor having forced him into such a ridiculous position while he tried his best to sound authoritive "Ribbit! Like I said you are a great hypnotist but it is just the power of suggestion on the human subconscious Ribbit! Like when someone acts like a chicken at a stage show Ribbit!"
So now James was comparing what Dr Stevens did to the work of a cheap stage magician. She wasn't even offended any more. She was just going to enjoy slowly taking this demonstration to it's natural conclusion and proving her arrogant doubter wrong.
