Dr Stevens looked down in amusement at the naked man squatting at her feet. It was ridiculous that he would try and debate her powers even while she had him acting like a frog completely against his will. But soon there would be no room for doubt.
"You are going to tell me honestly how you are feeling now, James" the doctor spoke in a softer voice than usual.
"Ribbit! Well, obviously I'm highly embarrassed, pretty annoyed and now I think about it a little cold Ribbit! How would you expect me to feel? Ribbit!"
"But you aren't scared?" the doctor seemed a little annoyed again "I could have you hopping about in a pond for the rest of your life if our sponsor agrees to it, and as you know I can be very persuasive. Does that not scare you, and answer me honestly"
"Ribbit! No, because I don't believe you can transform me Ribbit!" James replied.
The doctor nodded as if in thought for a moment when by chance a fly flew into the office through an open window and began buzzing about the place. Normally this would have provided Dr Stevens with nothing but irritation, but today it was inspiration.
"Would you like to eat that fly, James?" the doctor asked mischievously.
"Ribbit! Of course not!" James looked at the flying bug with disgust as it hovered around him. Suddenly the evil hypnotist looked directly into his eyes.
"But you would like to eat it. You will live on a diet of flies and other insects now. And you can't eat human food any more. But that doesn't matter because you find flies and all other bugs delicious. You have an insatiable appetite for them and chase greedily after them whenever you see one."
The doctor pulled away. James looked up at the small buzzing creature by his head. He hated to admit it, but it did look very tasty all of a sudden and he hadn't had his lunch yet. Still, he wasn't going to give the doctor the satisfaction of eating a bug. Although...As the fly flew past him James felt some unstoppable natural instinct take over. He turned around and leapt after it, ending up on the doctors chair with his butt facing Dr Stevens and Denise. James darted out his tongue to attempt to ensnare the bug, but found it pathetically short for the job.
"Don't worry James, you will find your tongue is now perfectly long enough to catch that fly, Just try again" the doctor encouraged.
"Ribbit!" James croaked eagerly as he tracked the fly above his head, staying frozen in place so as not to frighten it away. When it came close James darted out his now long, sticky tongue way up into the air above him, ensnared the fly and gobbled it down in one swift movement. At first he just enjoyed the delicious, nourishing taste of the fly. But then he started to panic. How had his tongue suddenly grown and changed like that? There was no way he could have imagined it. His human tongue could never have reached that fly from where he was squatting. Had he been physically altered?
"James, back down here!" the doctor ordered as she gestured to the carpet in front of her. James turned around and hopped down into place.
"From now on your tongue will easily be able to catch and eat all manner of bugs and insects." the doctor began her next warped hypnotic spell "And every time you eat one you will become more like the frog you are going to be. Each insect you consume will change either your body, your natural instincts or your mind in some way. And your appetite for bugs is now insatiable, especially at your current size."
James just sat and looked hopelessly at the doctor. Could she really do this? He had to admit, he was craving delicious bugs in a way he never imagined he would have. But even if he succumbed and ate some, surely that wouldn't change him?
"You won't find many bugs in here, but there are plenty in the complex garden outside. Nobody will complain about your nudity as long as you stay within our property" the doctor encouraged as she opened her door invitingly "Go on, get yourself some lunch. I'll wait."
James paused a moment. Was he really going to do this? Hop around naked gobbling down flies and other bugs in a semi-public setting? Well, he was really hungry, and didn't know anyone here, he reasoned. He didn't really have much choice as he had to eat. And he was sure consuming bugs couldn't make him transform in any way as the doctor was suggesting, that was too ridiculous a thought to even entertain. After a few moments thought, James hopped out of Doctor Steven's office and into the world outside.
