"Do you like Mini-Golf?" Stevie asked.
"I do!" The two went to Lisa's car, a red 2015 Toyota Yaris.
"Wow. It's weird having shorter legs. It's so roomy!" Stevie commented.
"Pfft, you're still taller than me." Lisa laughed.
"Oh man, what were you like at 13?"
"Smaller." The other girl grinned. "Like, oh jeez, 4' 7"? 4' 8"? Women in my family tend to be tiny. I was saved by puberty."
"I can relate. Had a growth spurt when I was 15-16, shot up like 5" and went from no breasts to C's."
"Yeah, not so much luck there. I'm pretty small up top." Lisa shrugged.
"Hey, you're better built than I am at the moment."
They both laughed at that.
The Mini-Golf place was indoors, which was good, as despite it being early Summer, it was unseasonably chilly. The two rented clubs and balls and had a great time. Lisa actually won, but it was close.
Afterwards, they got a hot dog at a local eatery that was modeled after a 1950's drive-in diner. "Oh man, it's getting late. And you worked today, I'm sorry."
Lisa shook her head. "Are you kidding? This was a blast. Besides, we're young, we only need a nap and we're good to go."
"I wonder if this is going to wear off. Will I wake up and be back to normal? Or get even smaller?" Stevie frowned.
"Hey. I can tell my Mom I'm staying with a friend tonight, if you want me to." Lisa offered.
"Could you?" Stevie's voice sounded small to her own ears.
"Sure thing, let me swing by the house and grab a few things."
About 45 minutes later, they were at the apartment. Things were quiet in the neighborhood, and they brought in some food they'd picked up on the way.
"Be it ever so humble, welcome home." Stevie gestured to her apartment. It was small, inexpensive, but clean.
"Hey, it's nice for just one person. I love my family, but I can't wait to get my own place." Lisa smiled.
"Yeah well, if I'm still a kid tomorrow, I won't have it for long. Can't work, can't pay the rent."
"Hey! We agreed I'd worry about that, not you." Lisa hugged her new friend.
Despite her concerns, Stevie smiled. "So you want some leftover cake?"
"Uh, hard pass. It made you half your age, right? I wouldn't mind 13 so much but I really don't want to be 8."
"I bet you were adorable at 8!" Stevie grinned.
"Oh, maybe? I don't know, it seems dangerous."
They then...
