"Yeah, I think that would be best," you replied mentally.
Gently urging the foal to follow you, you made your way back through the shop. Thankfully, the place seemed as deserted as before, allowing you to travel undisturbed. Still, you had to halt frequently to let your offspring catch up.
It was amazing how quickly the tiny unicorn was able to get the hang of walking. You had read somewhere about animals that could run mere seconds after being born. Perhaps, unicorns were similar. Once more, you felt that swell of affection for your young fill you. That, and a funny suspicion that had been niggling at the back of your mind.
"Jessica, were you pregnant before?"
There was a pause before she answered. "Yes. I was going to tell you, but I wanted to wait for a special moment." You heard her mental giggle. "But I guess getting merged into a unicorn was special enough."
"So, I'm a father?"
"Well, you were. I'd say that now WE are a mother."
You groaned. This was going to get confusing. Then, another thought hit you. "Wait, that means we just turned our baby into a unicorn!"
Instantly, your shared heart skipped, and you felt Jessica's own horror sink in. "Oh no! We did, didn't we!"
"We have to find my uncle."
Without further hesitation, you continued on your way.
