The two girls found a car park reasonably close to the theatre but had to walk the last 100 meters. Michael felt somewhat exhilarated as they walked past a construction site and the workers stopped to watch the twin babes and one of them gave a wolf whistle. She couldn't help but smile back and exaggerated the wiggle of her bum. Inside her head Michael knew she was a man and should be humiliated be having to walk in a public place wearing one of Karissa's dresses but she didn't. She loved the way her dress flapped in the breeze and was secretly glad that Karissa had allowed her to borrow her white heels. They made her feel more elegant than the flat sandals Karissa had originally suggested she wear.
Karissa for her part couldn't believe how much Michael was acting the part. It was as if her twin had taken to heart her earlier plea for him to stop whinging and start behaving like the woman he now was. She certainly wasn't expecting Michael to flirt with the construction workers.
However nerves did affect Michael as they entered the theatre and approached the woman behind the box office desk. She asked Karissa 'Would you mind doing the talking? She will pick that I'm a fraud'
'Don't be silly Michelle (That was the name they had decided Michael now needed to be called) No one would pick you for anything but a young woman. Just remember to be polite'
'I'm not sure I can. You know I have a temper and I am feeling like giving that wizard a piece of my mind'
'Well make sure you don't. We won't get anywhere if you make him antagonistic. Be polite and deferential. I mean you were very disruptive of his performance I can understand why he was upset with you'. Karissa was unaware that the amulet in her pocket glowed once more.
Karissa's words somehow filled Michael with confidence. Without hesitation she approached the desk. She waited politely for the woman to finish some filing.
'May I help you miss?'
'I'm not sure if you are in a position to help, but I'm trying to contact the actor who played the wizard in last nights production. Could you tell me how I might go about doing that?'
'The actors are probably out back getting ready for the matinee performance. I think perhaps you would be best to contact the production manger. His office is just down that hall. Allow me to call him and I'll find out if he can spare a minute'
Michael waited politely for the woman as she spoke on the phone. Eventually she gave Michael the thumbs up 'Why don't you and your sister take a seat. Mister Martin asked if you could give him 10 minutes. They are just finishing up the postmortem of last nights performance. Were you there? I heard it was disrupted by some hooligan'
'I'm sure any disruption was unintentional' an apologetic Michael replied before moving across to sit on the couch the woman had indicated.
It was more like 15 minutes before they were approached by a short bald man. He was not the wizard.
'Good day ladies. Are you the women who would like to contact one of our actors? I'm Gavin Martin the production manager'
'Thank you for obliging us Mr Martin. I'm Michelle and this is my sister Karissa. We would like to speak to the actor who played the wizard last night'
Mr Martin looked surprised 'The wizard? I took you for groupies trying to meet Tommy. I don't think I can ever recall any ladies wishing to meet with Zanden. I'll warn you, he is not in a good mood this morning. He threatened to quit last night. He took last nights interruption personally. I had to spend an hour convincing him stay on'
'It's partially about that incident why we are here. Do you think we could meet with him for 5 minutes'
'Hmm. I was intent on turning you away when I thought you were some of Tommy's groupies however it might brighten Zanden's mood to know he has a couple of young female admirers. Why don't you come with me and let's test the waters'
The two twins followed Mr Martin to back stage.
