You stare at the scene before you. The opening sequence has placed your avatar in a training village, where you will learn the mechanics of gameplay before being dumped out into the virtual world. Right now, your avatar doesn't look like anything much. Actually, he does look like a rather handsome humanoid male.
That's right, you were going to play as a male, even though you were female. You intended to play this game to enjoy the game itself, and the last MMORPG you joined -- as a female -- you spent half the game ignoring a/s/l requests and more. This time, you figured if you play as a male, less people would harass you, and you could just have fun. Therefore, you chose the male avatar, and since you were going to spend a lot of time looking at it, you decided you would make him into your ideal male.
Tall and rugged and handsome, with dark tanned skin and silver hair. And of course, the one thing that marked him as part of the faction you chose: the golden eyes of a beastman. However, he didn't look like much of a beastman yet. That was because most of the qualities that marked him as one would appear as you leveled up, from fangs, to tail, to beast ears, to magical tribal tattoos, to eventually being able to transform into the beast you had chosen as well as communicate with other animals. You couldn't wait until you got to the level where he would gain a tail, it would look absolutely adorable.
Even more so because the beast clan you had chosen to join was the wolf clan. A fluffy tail would really complete your avatar, it was just too bad it was only virtual. Being able to pet that tail would just thrill you to bits. Oh well, you sighed to yourself.
It took you a few hours just to get through the tutorial village and pick up your basic accessories to begin your adventure, so you saved your progress at the moment your avatar left the village and reached the first waypoint. Your character still looked mostly human, but he did have the strength that marked him as a beastman, as well as his signature eyes.
You were tired, but luckily you had been working from home for a while now. No one would see the bags under your eyes from playing video games half the night. You quickly changed and got into bed, switching off the light.
Which is why you didn't notice the odd flecks of gold that suddenly appeared in your eyes.
