Dinosaur City has had its fair number of tourists. Often, it was less about the sites to visit in the city and more about looking at the Dinotopians. Understandably, a lot of people would want to see living dinosaurs in person, even if they were half-human hybrids. The Dinotopians have learned to accept this and ignore the looky-loos when they can. Of course, there are times where the tourists can be too numerous and too obnoxious. Like when Spring Break let the college kids loose.
==========
Harper has dealt with hir fair share of obnoxious visitors back when shi was a park ranger. Of course, most college kids weren't interesting in going to national parks during spring break. Before, Harper just had to deal with excessive litter and the occasional too-loud radio being played. Life in Dinotopia was different when shi was the attraction. Quite a few college kids were fans of raptors and being a Dakotaraptor made Harper closer to what the raptors in movies appeared like, even if shi was covered in feathers. It wouldn't be as annoying if the frat boys kept making sexist passes at hir, either not knowing or not caring shi was a hermaphrodite. The one time Harper tried roaring at the frat boys only caused them to cheer in excitement.
Harper sighed as shi walked back into hir apartment. "Not sure how much more of this I can take," shi said, "Is this what women feel like all the time?"
"I can't really say from experience," said Dakota, "I was only an osprey before. But I might assume so."
"I suppose I can't really expect any women to make any catcalls at me," said Harper before adding hastily, "Not that I would be encouraging them."
"They'll only be around for about two weeks," said Dakota, "And it's not like we're the only ones they're bothering. After having to keep themselves cooped up for about two years, you can see why they're a little crazy."
"Well, I'm feeling rather cooped up myself," said Harper, hir tail lashing a little, "I feel like I really need to get away from it all."
"Is that all you're feeling?" asked Dakota, stepping next to hir mate, "Because I think you're feeling antsy because our first breeding season is approaching."
"Say what?" asked Harper, caught off-guard.
"Well, I don't know about Dakotaraptors, but part of me is still part osprey and it's going to be breeding season for ospreys soon," said Dakota.
"Well, it's going to be breeding season for a lot of animals," said Harper. There certainly seemed to be a buzz around Dino City. Shi wondered how many of their neighbors would be trying to get eggs this year.
As for themselves, Harper and Dakota definitely felt the urge to mate and they definitely loved each other enough. Of course, since they were both herms, there was the question of who'd be laying the eggs. Harper could smell Dakota getting around just by standing next to hir. And Harper was starting to feel the same way.
"Maybe we ought to consider going on spring break ourselves," said Dakota, "Someplace where we can be alone. Maybe have fun in those swimsuits we got."
"Mieni Atoll is going to be pretty crowded right now," pointed out Harper, "Even more crowded than here."
"Well, I'm open to wherever you want to go," said Dakota, "But I want there to be a pool at least."
"Since when were you so obsessed with swimming?" asked Harper in a teasing tone.
"I was a fishing eagle. I'm supposed to live next to water," said Dakota.
