Kim groaned as the cryo sleep ended. No one else complains, but she has always insisted that cryo afterburn was way worse than a hangover. Stumbling out of the pod she went first to the drink dispenser and keyed her standard stimulant.
While the machine pulled accessed the matter reserves, she stepped into the cleansing stall. The disinfecting lasers made quick work of clearing the accumulated cryo sleep grime. Stepping out she pulled her suit on, retrieved her stimulant mug, and sat down in front of her terminal.
There she saw the Sample was currently setting off the temperature sensors by rapidly heating and cooling. Unexplained behavior wasn't abnormal for the Sample, but it was odd that it was following what looked to be a set pattern. It typically gave more random readings when triggering sensors. It was almost as if it was trying to attract attention...no she was probably just being paranoid. If there was any kind of intelligence to the thing they'd have picked that up ages ago.
She closed out the Sample readings for a moment to review the status of some of her long term experiments when she noticed something odd in the general systems. According to them, Child Accommodations was currently in active status and Carson was there.
She double checked her cryo pod and confirmed she had been woken up as part of the automated alert system not as a manual operation...strange that shouldn't be possible. Though of course it could just be a minor malfunction, Child Accommodations is right next to Crew Quarters after all. Carson might fixing a faulty relay or some such right now.
She could go ask, but maybe she should check on the Sample first. After all if he's elbow deep in a section of wiring he wasn’t likely to be checking the system alerts anyway.
