A Game of Change

The woodsmith

added A year ago BM I

Ty awoke to a gentle blue light, his small infant body resting on what felt like leaves and straw, roots and vines entertwined to create a type of railing, stopping him from falling out, looking up, he could see the room he was in, wherever he was it was tall, so tall that the light of a nearby fire, as well as the mysterious blue light seemed to be swallowed by the darkness that loomed above.

Ty began to wriggle around, but to little success, but he soon stoped dead when heavy footsteps echoed through the wooden room, they sounded large and heavy, with the creaking and groaning of wood following the sound, almost like a falling tree.

The sound drew close, as did the blue glow until it loomed overtop of Ty, and the infant in him couldn't help but scream in terror.

Before him loomed a giant creature, its body formed of moss, wood and stone, borders and pebbles created its shape, being held together by roots and tree branches, its body creaked when it moved, the sound of stone against stone, grinding together as it looked down at him, its face, if it possessed one was a floating wooden mask, its shape rough and primative, like it had been carved out of a piece of pried off bark from a tree.

A blanket of moss hung to its sholders as it cascaded down its back, a hood over its mask, leaving its glowing blue eyes to illuminate the hoods shadow, dotted around its body was the same blue glow but they seemed to move, almost like blue fireflies, their light permanent and everlasting.

It seemed to point at Tys chest with a root like finger before letting out a series of humms and grunts, Ty not understanding simply looked in more awe than terror now.

The creature then seemed to let out a long breath, the wind sending leaves and blue light at Ty, who giggled in childlike glee.

A yawn thwn caught Tys attention, there were people here, well at least one, if he wasn't tied to this baby form then maby Ty could get some answers.

"Goodmorning woodsmith, been up all night again"

That voice, it was definitely familiar, yes, it was the woman who saved him last night, the woman and her group in black cloaks.

The strange creature, the woodsmith started to create a sound simular to that of a flute and a didgeridoo, the woman laughed, her footsteps growing close untill she stood Over Ty.

She was beautiful, her skin dark and smooth, her lips full and red as blood, her eyes crystal blue with a kind and gentle look to them, she had freckles lightly dotted on her cheeks, and her hair, her hair was as black as midnight, long and flowing like waves all the way past her sholders, it could be longer, but from where he lay that was all he could see.

"Hello young one, good to see your still with us" she smiled as she gently kissed Tys head, Ty just blinked and looked at this woman in confusion before he was scooped into her arms and lead towards what looked to be a forge.

However it was the most bizarre forge Ty had ever seen, the whole thing was made from wood and vines, various creations lay around on workbenches, hammers pliers, chisels and other strange tools, but at the rooms center was the main forge, a kylm of sorts, again made from wood, with black stones in its open hatch, a blue flame erupting from the stone, traveling up a wooden pipe and bellowing out of the top.

The woodsmith stood there, poking the flames, somehow a sense of sadness ebbing from its body language. "My lady, our goddess, its time, with this child you can be born into a form more resembling your beauty and power" said the woman holding him, Ty then watched as the creature of wood and stone nodded its hooded head with a whistling sigh.

It then trust its hand into the blue flames and clutched a long jagged stone in its hand, its sone like surface becoming more like glass as it began to absorbed the blue flames, turning it into its own glow, and then with both hands, the woodsmith thrust the crystal into its own chest.

There was silence, the other women from the night before all suddenly behind Ty and the woman holding him, all watching as the creature crumbled into a pile of stone and wood, its mask now sat atop the pile, with a large round woven wooden cage at its feet.

"Now then......"
