With a month to go before prom, the vampires were finalizing their plans.
During prom the vampires would make a move against the children of the wizards in hopes of capturing some or all of them. So far Wyatt's plan had worked to perfection, drawing the older wizards further and further away from their intended targets. If everything went as planned, Miro would recapture the troublesome Duke, take one if not all the children as the newest vampires, and deal the wizards a critical blow. All they needed to do was sit and wait.
So far none of wizards were aware of the vampires master plan. The older wizards had been busy clearing out nests and searching for Miro. Their endeavors had proven successful, which was how Mika and Claudia now found themselves with a rare night off.
"What time is the sitter coming Mika," Claudia asked as she now grabbed her heels. Mika now called from the upstairs, the young woman in the process of putting on her makeup. "Any minute now," she called. "And there's two of them."
Claudia simply nodded, glancing around at her children before scanning the room for her purse. The young parents so rarely had a free night that the idea of date night excited the petite blond. Still, her children could be troublesome. Haley and Aaron had frightened off more than one sitter in their brief lives. "And you're positive they can handle the twins?"
"Of course," Mika called. "And let's be honest, its mostly Haley. Pretty sure she takes after you."
"I'm gonna pretend I didn't hear that," Claudia grumbled, scooping Haley into her arms. The toddler giving her mother an innocent smile. "You better be on your best behavior Haley," she smirked. "You and your siblings put the last sitter in therapy." The sound of the bell ringing now drew Claudias attention.
"Thats probably them," Mika called. "Can you get the door?"
Claudia now made her way to the door with Haley on her hip. She wouldn't say her children were bad but they were certainly rambunctious. Individually the children were fine, together though was another story. If Claudia was being honest though, it was mostly the twins. Haley was a handful, a high energy toddler who appeared to have fully embraced the terrible twos, despite being a few months short of two years of age. The girl would often rope her brother into her antics, which would inevitably mean Kari would have to try and fix things. It amazed Claudia that at only three, Kari was responsible enough to not only look out for her little siblings but try and keep them out of trouble. As Claudia now opened the door, she paused as she gazed at the two teenage girls in front of her.
"Hi Mrs. Harris I'm Nat and this is my friend Rei."
Claudia raised an eyebrow as she gazed at the waifish auburn haired girl and her Asian best friend. "You two are the sitters," she asked. "How old are you two?"
"Fourteen," Reiko replied. "We turn fifteen in July."
"I didn't even think you were in high school," Claudia whispered, perhaps a bit too loudly as Rei and Nat frowned.
"We're both Freshman Mrs. Harris," Nat stated. "In fact we talked with Mika before taking the job."
Claudia still seemed uncertain as she studied the two girls. She couldn't help but feel old as she gazed at the two girls. There was no way she was ever this young!
"Rei, Nat come in," Mika called happily as she descended the stairs. "Claudia enough with the third degree. I interviewed these two before hiring them. They're good kids."
"I don't know," Claudia grumbled. "I mean, their not even old enough to drive. What happens if they have to take one if the kids to the hospital?"
"I have my mom on speed dial," Rei replied, holding up her cellphone.
Claudia furrowed her brow, casting the two a dubious look. Noticing the teens holding hands her eyes went wide. "Wait are you two dating?!" Rei and Nat blushed, averting their eyes under the petite blonda gaze.
"Seriously Claudia," Mika exclaimed. "You're going to hold them being a couple over their heads?:
"I'm just worried about them watching the kids," Claudia said defensively. "I mean what if the kids get hurt while their making out on the couch?"
"Ignore her," Mika sighed as she now approached the teens. "My wife here is a bit over dramatic and a bit of an ass." Rei and Nat giggled as Claudia frowned.
As Claudia now tried to argue, Haley gazed at Rei and Nat, the toddlers eyes going wide as she now reached for the teens. Wiggling out of Claudia's arms, Rei now clutched the girl as she smiled up at her.
"Huh," Claudia said in surprise. "Haley never warms up to strangers. She must really like you two."
"Told you they were good," Mika smirked.
Mika now stood in front of the teens, giving them a run down of what they expected.
"The kids already ate dinner and took their bathes," Mika stated. "The twins are usually put to bed at 7:30 while Kari usually goes to bed around 8. Kari is really good about bedtime but the twins can be a bit tougher."
"Also," Claudia added. "Dont worry if anything..um....weird happens. We already know so just try not to freak out."
Nat and Rei gave eachother a dubious look before gazing at Mika and Claudia. "We left plenty of snacks for you two and the kids," Mika stated. "Make sure the kids brush their teeth before bed. You just have to put the toothpaste on their toothbrushes."
"Also Kari knows how to use the potty but these two are still in diapers," Claudia added. "We left supplies in the living room for you to use."
Mika and Claudia now called for their children, the three children now hugging their mothers tightly. "Have fun you three," Mika said.
"And stay out of trouble," Claudia added, casting a glance at Haley.
"We'll take good care of them Mrs. and Mrs. Harris," Nat smiled.
"You guys have fun," Rei added. "We'll see you at 10. Enjoy you dinner and movie."
Mika and Claudia now waved goodbye, casting one last look at their children before getting in their car. Hopefully Rei and Nat would be able to handle the Harris kids for the evening.
