"Are you ready for the duel, Jane?" I heard Miranda asked.
"I don't think so. I just got my powers, why am I dueling someone already?" Jane asked.
"They are our enemy coven. A bunch of warlocks that think they can steal our stuff and get away with it. They had a new recruit too, one that I believe is weaker than you. So yes, you have to duel him," Miranda said.
I was already being used in a duel? I was unsure how to feel about it. I was angry at the coven for ignoring my humanity and pretending that I was just an object. I wanted them to lose. But, part of my was worried that I wouldn't be wrapped around Jane again. The feeling of being worn was just too natural, and I was scared that life would be too miserable without being worn. I may have been an inanimate object, but I was an inanimate object that could still experience the human life of my owner. Part of me was also competitive, and wanted to win for that reason.
"Ok, and you said that he would make a perfect bow to put in my hair? Shouldn't I get to choose what to turn him into?" Jane asked.
"You could, but you haven't practiced much transfiguration. I would recommend sticking with what you know. Plus, I did some investigating. I determined that a hair accessory transformation would be the most humiliating transformation from his point of view. And when it comes to stealing magical strength from your enemies, humiliation is the most effective way to do so," Miranda said.
"Alright. So its in like an hour, right? Should I practice?" Jane asked.
"Maybe a little, but I don't want you depleting mana," Miranda said.
After a while of practicing spells, Jane teleported herself into an arena. The crowds weren't filled very far, but I could see many member's of Jane's coven cheering her on. I noticed a bunch of men on the other side, cheering for Jane's opponent.
Jane's opponent seemed to be her age, wearing normal clothing. He seemed a bit scared and hesitant, just like Jane.
"Come on Jackson! You can do it!" I heard members of Jane's opponent's coven shouting. I realized that her opponent's name must be Jackson.
After a few minutes of coven leaders explaining the rules, I heard someone shout "GO!"
The duel was on.
