Felines are not known for their loyalty. The tigress was still hungry and even though the handlers had always been her friends, they were currently the size of food. She lowered her head to them and savored the scent of their fear. Then she took one of them in her jaws.
Some of the handlers wailed in fear, some tried to flee, and one just fainted when they saw the lump descended the throat of the tiger. The ones that tried to flee saw an orange blur as the tigress quickly batted them back to the rest of the group. The tigress spotted the human that had passed out and swallowed him next. The handlers could only sit there and watch as the tiger's rough tongue wrapped them up one by one and swallowed each in turn. Her reactions were just to fast for them to escape.
The tigress was still far from full. Most of the humans had fled the zoo by now. She thought about going after them to fill her belly. Then again she would hate to leave her cub alone with just a male for too long. Decision time.
