Jeff mulled it over in his head; he did not have an answer to her question.
“I-it’s a big decision could I have a little more time?”
“I know it is intimidating sweetie but you seem to be recovering fine and you are adapting splendidly. You don’t have to go back just yet but I think it would be better to rip it off like a Band-Aid then you can get back to normal.”
“Your right, but, could I let you know at dinner?... Please?” Jeff said pleadingly.
Your mom sighed said “I am sorry dear, you have already missed over a week of school. To get more time to recover at home you have to get the classwork delivered. I have already started the arrangements and will have Stacy pick up the schoolwork tomorrow and drop it off after school. She lives close by so her mom said it wouldn’t be an issue.” She said before closing your door and walking away.
Shocked by this you bolt up and rush to the door opening it and leaning out you say “how did you do that so fast and what do you mean you started the arrangements?”
“I talked with Stacy’s mom earlier and asked if Stacy could grab your missing school work if you couldn’t go back to school yet and she was willing to help, I am confirming with her now that that will be the plan and will email the teachers to give all your missed work to Stacy and she will drop them off after swim practice tomorrow.” Your mom said over her shoulder.
“but mom, I haven’t talked to Stacy in years, why her?” you said panicking at the thought.
“Her mom offered to help yesterday, when I saw her in the garden. I brought up that you were missing schoolwork do to your medical procedure and she offered to have Stacy bring your work over and take it back while you recover. I was considering it at the time and your father and I decided if you didn’t go back to school we would get her to help.” She said turning around to look at you.
Sighing in defeat you retreat back into your room.
Stacy was the last person you wanted to deliver your schoolwork. It is true that as kids you were childhood friends but over the years you just drifted apart, she is now on track to be valedictorian and is on the swim team, and your only achievement is finding a defective life changing rock that has only caused problems.
In frustration you look at the stone. You finally decide to climb on to your bed and punch some pillows to calm down.
After a few minutes of beating up your pillows you noticed you were still wearing the thong. ‘Whatever everyone is already expecting me to wear them and I give up for the day.’ You thought.
You felt defeated; you were tired; you decided to just end the day, you quickly did your nightly routine including your nightly exercises before hopping in bed and going to sleep.
