That night, Jane took me off when she went to bed. I got incredibly lonely and uncomfortable being separated from her body, wishing that she would just wake up and put me back on.
When she did wake up, it didn’t take long until she was training with her coven again. Since Jane pulled mana from Jackson too, I didn’t black out as much. That night, she went to bed again, making me feel sad once more.
The cycle continued until a week later.
“Alright, Jane, me and you are going to go hunting. If you want to survive out there in the world of magic, we’re gonna need to complete that wardrobe. And there is no better place to start than to target a rival coven,” Miranda told Jane.
“Another duel?” Jane asked.
“Nope. We’re gonna be stealthy this time. We got intel that two men from another of our rivals, a different coven than your last duel, work at a gas station. When their shift ends tonight, we’ll snatch them both as they are heading out,” Miranda said.
“Why do they work at a gas station if they have magic?” Jane asked.
“You said you wanted to go to college when the summer ends, right?” Miranda asked.
“Yes.”
“Same thing. They probably just wanted to continue living their human lives, just like you,” Miranda responded.
“Oh. That makes me feel sad that we are going after them. But if you think it’s a good idea, I’ll do it,” Jane replied.
That night, Miranda and Jane hid on the roof of the gas station, making themselves invisible. I was feeling jealous that Jane was about to add more to her outfit.
The doors opened, and Jane noticed the two men locking the doors.
“Now,” Miranda whispered.
