A Primer on Copy Upgrades

added by TheCloneO A year ago O

Curious about the differences between types of body copies and the process of upgrading them, you decide to read the [upgrading copies] section. Typing in the command to view that section, the terminal begins filling the screen with new text.

:::UPGRADING COPIES:::
::
:::There are four types of copies, generally described as follows:
::
:::Type-4 - These copies are the most temporary, lasting for a maximum of 12-48 hours before termination of function. These have the weakest telepathic link to the consciousness donor, and therefore are the easiest to modify without strain on the consciousness donor's mental capacity. However, this also severely limits the capability of parallel thought among multiple copies or brains. Adjustments to a type-4 copy's form can be adapted to by the consciousness donor in no more than 15 minutes on average.
::
:::Type-3 - These copies are the most balanced between functional duration and thaumomorphic malleability. A type-3 copy may last for up to two weeks before termination of function. Mental capacity for multitasking may be established after no longer than 12 hours, and much shorter if upgraded from a type-4 copy. Adjustments to a type-3 copy's form can be adapted to by the consciousness donor in no more than 30 minutes on average.
::
:::Type-2 - These copies are optimized for long duration and telepathic stability. As such, they may last up to three months before termination of function, and mental faculties for multitasking may be established after no more than an hour. However, large modifications to the copy take significantly longer for the consciousness donor to acclimate to, in the range of 1 to 24 hours depending on the scale of the change.
::
:::Type-1 - These copies are permanent unless manually deactivated, with perfected mental links to the consciousness donor. Due to the strength of the telepathic link, only minor modifications are allowed to protect the donor's mind. Long range telepathic links (exclusive to type-1 copies) take up to one week to be established, however this may be reduced to as little as 12 hours depending on the original grade of the copy.
::
:::REQUIREMENTS FOR UPGRADING:::
::
:::There are two potential paths to satisfy requirements and allow a copy to be upgraded. The first is to release a simple majority of the restrictions on a copy. Generally, this takes 1 hour for a type-4, 6 hours for a type-3, and 12 hours for a type-2. The second way is to perform physically or mentally strenuous activities (including but not limited to workouts, marathons, graduate-level study, and sexual intercourse), which will rapidly decrease the time needed for restrictions to lift by fostering comfortability with the use of the copy.
::
:::If a copy has not met the requirements to be upgraded, the doors of the main output chamber will not shut and the upgrade will not commence.
::
:::It is recommended that all major modifications are done on type-4 or type-3 copies. There is no limit to the number of alterations that can be made at once for these grades, and bulk modification is encouraged. When upgrading copies, setting the [redundancy] option to a value greater than zero is also encouraged but not required, with higher numbers being more reliable.

You weren't sure what to make of the latter part of this info, but you felt you had a general idea of what each copy type was capable of. You were tempted to modify or upgrade your copy of your girlfriend's body, but you also knew she probably expects it to disappear after 24 hours. Staring at your female body, you decide to...
