Shaniquah brought it close to their lips, smelling the piercing stench of foul odorous vomit and rubbish while Sandra looked on with more and more skepticism. Did she really want this for her friend she thought? After a moment of clarity Sandra realized this was all a massive mistake, she could remember fainty that Shaniquah was actually a proud member of the Afro-lesbian alliance and that they went to college, with a bright future going into social work, or trans rights activism.
Unfortuantly Sandra took a moment too long in realising the mistakes they made coming here as she looked up and saw shaniquah wipe away some left over drissle from her cup.. a bit of a frown on her face as she reeled from the taste. Shaniquah had drank the whole thing. Oh NO! what have you done, I.. I thought you'd take a sip?" she shouted
Shaniquah was too pre-occupied as she felt a burning sensation slowly spread throughout her body. Feeling her legs give way she reached out Catching her hand on the tabletop. Slowly Shaniquah fell backward, finding a wheelchair appear out of nowhere, breathing intensely Shaniquah leaned back in the chair as her muscles began shrinking all thoughout her body, as years of Muscular Dystrophy set in. She no longer could walk and could barely raise her arms.
The burning didn't stop there however as it soon spread back up to her body into her face, small little pinpricks could be felt inside her eyes as her optical nerves became weakened causing her already poor eyesight to fade further until she could only see vauge shapes and objects. Spreading to her brain, Shaniquah began to seize up as the neurons in her brain became more and more cross-wired, and conditions such as Cerbalpalsy and epilepsy began to become engrained into her since birth.
Sandra rushed to her friend and began screaming at the clerk to fix this, It was obviously something that's gone too far she reasoned. But the Clerk couldn't do anything until reality had finished changing and was unsure where she'd be due to such a drastic change. E
Then reality began to change as the room around her began to distort and change, slowly Sandra disappeared along with all of Shaniquah's memories of her, considering Shaniquah spent her childhood going from hospital to home, seeing doctors and nurses round the clock. she never had a chance to go to college to meet Sandra. Instead, new memories came in of group home friends and friendly nurses. Everyone was always kind to her.
The clerk was replaced by a tired-looking nurse, as the room shifted to a palliative care home funded by the state. Little decorations were hung up on the wall, tokens to Shaniquahs life, pictures with the family on visits, and of fellow residents.
"Here you go Shaniquah, dinner time, " The nurse said as she sat on a chair opposite with a spoon full of nutrient paste, letting out a little sigh, feeding Shaniquah always took a while, it was nice to be able to sit down for a bit she thought, glancing at the clock.
Finding her movement even more restricted, Shaniquah turned her face , her slack jaw inhibiting her speech but nevertheless, she said
"f..ff..ff.f.faaank yyouu... " with a smile and a giggle before gaping her mouth open. Food valiantly clung in her mouth as crums fell onto her bib. The nurse wiped her mouth before offering another spoonful.
After a few minutes of sitting in silence the nurse being a little bored, turned on the TV, keeping the volume a little on the quiet side so Shaniquah isn't disturbed. After a while, her attention peaked as the latest breaking news story on FOX started, with Carl tucker ranting about a bill on Euthanasia for the disabled and non-contributors of society like Shaniquah and other people requiring constant care by the state.
A spokesperson for the Disabled people's Rights alliance was being interviewed and began by telling the audience about his time spent with Shaniquah and how her existence is being questioned by this bill. He went on to give a powerful speech that sparked the debate in people's homes and in town squares.
All throughout the country people discussed the ethics of the bill.
But to Shaniquah she had no idea she had such an impact and continued to eat her nutrient paste in peace.
