The doctors were perplexed. Sitting before them was a terrified 18 year old girl, Jennifer Smith. All the tests they had run came back normal, no anomalies to speak of, but clearly something was up. Her neck was twice as long as normal, and her torso similarly elongated. She had trouble standing up, and she seemed to be growing... a tail?
An x-ray confirmed that she had twice as many vertebrate as normal, and they even watched in shock as another one started to grow in while she was being scanned. She insisted, through her sobs, that she wasn't like this 6 months ago. She was normal! Head of the cheer squad at Glendale High! And now she could barely hold her own head up.
They unfortunately told her that there was nothing that they could do, that all her tests came back normal. Surgery could have been an option had she come in sooner, but even then it would have risked permanent paralysis. They did give the poor girl recommendations for physical therapy, which she thanked them for, before she wobbled her way back to her mom's car. She could barely walk with how long her spine was, her core muscles having difficulty dealing with the change. She sat down and winced, forgetting for a moment that her tailbone now extended past her pelvis, giving her a real, genuine human tail. She cried, and was inconsolable for weeks.

Several more months had passed. Jennifer had started physical therapy now, though that wasn't her concern anymore. She *could* stand up, and hold her head up without her hands after working with Dr. Susan Meadows to improve her muscle mass and control over her ever-lengthening form. She was much more confidently mobile now than she had been 6 months ago, when the doctors had confirmed that there was nothing that could be done. However, a new challenge had developed for her. Her height.
Jen sighed, curled up on her mattress. She ran her arm over her long torso. She was almost 15 feet tall now, not including her almost 2 foot long tail. Thanks to Dr. Meadows's assistance, she was able to move it somewhat, and she could tell new muscles were growing to allow her even finer control. Her torso and neck were both curled in a way that would have been impossible for a normal human. She was far more flexible than she had been previously.
She stretched out, yawning, and crawled out of bed. Ever since she bumped her head on her ceiling a few weeks ago, she's had to adapt. Stooping got old fast, and was leading to difficulties in her therapy sessions, so her doctor proposed a novel solution: that she walk around on all fours. It took some convincing for the stubborn teenager to try, but now she couldn't imagine walking any other way. She crawled effortlessly over to the bathroom, noodling her body into the tub for a bath. She piled into the tub, scrubbing her torso for the next 20 minutes before washing her hair and starting the long process of drying off.
She crawled back into her room, and decided what clothes to wear. It was a muggy summer day outside, so she went with some shorts on her legs and a tank top for her shoulders. She bent around herself, twisting and wiggling until she could put the shorts on, and pulled them as far up as her tail would allow. "I need to start tailoring these..." she thought, the novel meaty appendage threatening to render her all but nude if her pants started to slip. She then tucked the tank top over her head and pulled it down over her almost 4 foot long neck. She was used to this by now, of course, but a little voice in the back of her head made her fear how long she would get.
