Even though the lights were already off and all the other infants were already asleep, Doris was unable to sleep. Not even the musical mobile that sat above her crib made her sleepy at all. So she had no choice but to wait until nap time was over.
Immediately, Doris heard a voice next to her.
"You can't fall asleep either, can you?"
Doris proceeded to turn to one side of her and finally managed to see who it was that had spoken to her.
It was a two-year-old toddler girl who, like Doris, wore a white shirt and red overalls. She also noticed that there was another toddler girl in that same crib who was also wearing the same outfit as the two of them although unlike her crib mate, she was completely asleep (she was even sucking her thumb).
"Don't worry, I can't sleep either. By the way, my name is Claire. And my sleeping friend here is named Colette. What's your name?"
"My name is Doris. Were you adults too?"
"Yep. My friend here and I had visited this place on the recommendation of a colleague of ours. But we didn't pay much attention to her warnings so we accidentally ended up like this."
Hearing that, Doris felt a little relieved. At least she wasn't the only one here who had shrunk into a toddler by sheer accident. It was also nice to have someone she could talk to, since apparently Claire and Colette were the only toddlers the same age as Doris. The rest of the infants who were in the daycare seemed younger than the three of them.
"And how have you been so far?" Doris asked Claire.
"Well, it's really not that bad being a toddler. The food they serve us actually tastes great and they let us do whatever we want here. Whether it's playing, painting, watching TV, etc. And even using our diapers really isn't unpleasant as I thought."
From what she heard from Claire, Doris began to wonder. What if being a toddler really wasn't as bad as she thought? Maybe it really was a lot of fun just like Claire said.
At that moment...
