As you wake up, you see two mermaids in the water. One seems to be your missing friend and crush Alexis, the other is clearly her cousin (and your other crush) Laura.
Speaking of Laura, she seems panicked, then enraged, before finally screaming at Alexis "Alex, you FOOL!!! Do you have the slightest idea of what you almost did? The mermaids hunters are back, and decided to place Chris under their protection! I was only permitted to stay at his side because I swore to them 3 things:
- I would do everything in my powers to not awake to my mermaid side
- To protect him and his family from any other mermaid wanting to turn one of them
- And more importantly, that I would disappear from his life if I ever awoke to my mermaid nature!
Naturally, you interject that you would rather become a merman, or even a mermaid, than live without any of them in your life. But it only make the tears flowing along Laura’s cheeks turn into rivers. "THEY DON’T CARE ABOUT WHAT YOU WANT, CHRIS! They decided you, above anyone else, need to stay human, and won’t hesitate to exterminate my peoples over it regardless of what you want!"
Then, looking sadder than ever, she had "… And before you go ending your life over it, know they would gladly kill us over that too."
