As the lights drew closer and closer, Scott couldn't help but wonder why he didn't just stay in his car and keep driving. These, of course, were concerns for past-Scott, as current-Scott was now falling ever so quickly towards the varying lights ahead of him.
One, in particular, seemed to be directly in his way. It had a pleasant green color coming from it, and as he fell towards it, he could see the green give way to a clear image. A meadow, bright and beautiful, under a blue sunny day. He approached it at alarming speed and found his body drawn towards the opening.
The transition through the portal was painless, much like the original entry into the void. But, an object in motion must stay in motion, and he was ejected at speed through the portal and into the grass where he tumbled and tossed, coming to a rest after a few moments. He was sore all over, but otherwise felt fine as he opened his eyes.
Above him was a beautiful blue sky. Small clouds dotted the sea of azure, and he could see what looked like colorful birds dance through the air. Birdsong filled his ears, as well as what sounded like a crisp, babbling brook somewhere nearby. He breathed in deep. The air was clean here, with the scent of freshly cut grass (likely from his clothing as he rolled to a stop) and the slightest bit of morning dew pleasantly filling his nostrils. This, actually wasn't so bad.
He closed his eyes again and let the world sing around him as he drifted off to a peaceful nap.
"Oh, yer' an unlucky one, aren't ye'?"
A feminine sounding voice immediately snapped him back awake. Someone else was here? And talking to him?
