"Oh great, it synced up perfectly!" Priya turns back from where she is leaning over Tom, who is fiddling with some computer equipment, and claps happily.
"What the hell are you talking about?" You growl. No, you really growl . Even your voice has changed, and you sound like some demented demon. This is insane.
"I've heard some suits are more difficult than others to adjust to, but it looks like yours was made for you!" Priya continues babbling on, spouting what seems like nonsense to your ears. Furry ears. Which are twitching in irritation. Priya, clueless, is looking you up and down with glee. "I wonder how long it will take for you to become accustomed to your powers at this rate--"
"Hey," Lucian butts in coldly, his eyes staring at you over a model that looks like a figurine of a bodybuilder. "She doesn't get it."
"Yeah, P, you better explain from the beginning," Tom says kindly from his swivel chair. "You didn't exactly give her any details."
"Oh," Priya nods sheepishly. "Sorry, guess I was just so excited to have a new member."
"I never even said I WANTED to be a new member!" You snarl unhappily. "I definitely didn't want to be some...freak!"
"Look, you were a member from the minute you found the booth," Tom finally cuts in, seeing how upset you are. "Only people who are capable of joining the club can locate the booth in the first place. Only people who are CAPABLE of linking with a costume and becoming superheroes."
"Superheroes..." your voice trails off in confusion.
"That's right, we are the 'Superhero Club'," Priya continues, finally starting to explain. "Of course, we aren't old enough to be full-time heroes, we're just sort of like apprentices. The suits serve two functions, to hide our identities and to help us draw out powers that will help us deal with threats. Of course, no one knows about this except other superheroes. After all, most of them were part of similar clubs. Anyway, the suits become like a second skin for our four years of high school, and we act as sort of back-up for heroes, handling minor problems and providing extra manpower when necessary."
"Wait..." your brain is reeling from the information, which would normally make you giddy with excitement, except for one thing. "'Second skin'? You don't mean..."
"Yeah, it's a part of you for the next four years," Tom nods as Lucian grimaces, and they both look at Priya like they know what is coming.
"We'd better show her," Priya says, and Tom and Lucian sigh resignedly. As you watch, Priya, Tom, and Lucian proceed to strip right in front of you. Priya is the first to remove all of her clothes, or at least her regular clothes. Underneath her school clothes is what appears to be a spandex-like skin suit. As she takes her last sock off, her body seems to grow and stretch before your eyes.
"My apologies for the late introduction. I am Powerhouse, defender of the weak!" Priya, or what was once Priya, announces proudly in a deep masculine voice. Which fits her now extremely robust, masculine form. Instead of the short bob, Powerhouse sported wavy, silvery hair framing his square jaw. The colorful spandex suit even had a cape. You would have laughed at the absurdity if your jaw wasn't slack in disbelief. You tear your eyes away just in time to see Tom's frame go from slightly pudgy humanoid to a (literally) wiry metallic. In fact, he looked entirely like the frame of a robot.
"I am addressed as The Conductor," a flat synthetic voice emanates from The Conductor's metallic skull. At this point, everyone's eyes turn to Lucian, who gives all of you a dark frown. Finally, Lucian drops his pants. To reveal...
"I'm Illucy! Tee-hee, nice to meet you!" A short girl with two ponytails and a tutu-like outfit curtsies before you with an impish smile, wand in hand, as she floats slightly off the ground.
