You figure your childish habit of “sticky fingers” could be useful in training for the thief class, so you sign up for it. Your training moves you to a nearby town, where you have to avoid soldiers trying to capture you, improve in your sleight-of-hand to steal goods, and even learn a little magic for illusions and distractions. Besides that, you stay on the run and improve your agility so that you can avoid deadly attacks and capture. You train like this until you finally turn 18, where you meet with your master on a rooftop.
“Congrats kid, you finally did enough to graduate.” Your master is an older guy with a long, gray beard, who hunches over when standing. The perfect disguise for a thief. “Don’t get a swelled head, all that means is I can’t watch you or keep you from being caught by soldiers. I will say, it’s impressive that you were the only student I didn’t have to bail out of prison, so I guess that’s worth some fanfare.” He throws a smoke bomb and gives you a dual dagger set, one with a black blade and brown handle, the other with a white blade and black handle. Underneath the dagger set is a light, leather cape, some light but sturdy boots, and a utility pouch with some smoke bombs inside. “Your first actual job is to meet with my informant in the capital city. The guards are pretty strict on who they let in, so you can either get in legitimately and miss your window to meet him, or find a way in within three days. The capital’s a one day trip from here, and you’ll probably need another day to check your surroundings before actually finding him. Best of luck to ya kid.” He jumps off the roof and disappears into the darkness, leaving you with your quest.
Gathering a small bag of necessary items and equipping your new gear, you head off to the capital city, but there’s a split in the path. You take a look at the map to see where you should go. One path takes you to Evermoon city, a town where the sun never shines. The other takes you a suspicious forest clearing. One is heavily guarded, the other has the opportunity to be ambushed.
