Claire heard the doorbell ring. Kim must be at the door. She jumped down her bed at ran for the entrance.
It was Kim outside. She opened the door, but only a little, enough for her head to peek out, but not enough to reveal her new short height. She could just be bending down.
"Hey Kim! I have to show you something wild." Claire eagerly said.
"Alright." Kim said.
Claire went right ahead and did it. She opened the door, revealing her new short stature to her friend. "Ta-da."
Kim just stepped right inside, paying no particular attention to Claire.
"Ahem, do you notice anything about me?"
Kim turned towards her, looked her up and down (mostly down, since the 5'2" Kim was taller than her which was absolutely wild. Kim whose so tiny.) "Not really." Kim said, her eyes lingering a bit on Claire's hair or potential makeup, but it didn't seem like height was something she'd noticed at all.
"Nevermind!" Claire exclaimed. She knew Kim wasn't that unobservant. She figured something was going on, something not unlike how her clothes fit her new body. Did this mean all memories had been changed? She had to dig further. Was her whole past different?
"You remember how Eric broke up with me?" She asked Kim.
"Um. Wasn't it that you were moving too fast or something. What about it."
"Nothing. Just wondered if I told you." The real reason, or what Claire could remember was Eric explicitly telling her how he felt emasculated being with a girl several inches taller than him. Guess now there's a different reason. Did that mean that her height was actually irrelevant in why the relationship ended? Maybe. Though, she didn't really mind that it ended. While Eric was handsome and kind, the more she got to knew him, the more she discovered that he was kind of weird. Weird in a not charming way, more in a that's incredibly unsexy please don't do that, don't call me mommy in sex holy fuck. Height being emasculating was a total lie. He was into it. That was for sure why he was drawn to her, so how was the relationship founded if Eric didn't spot the tall girl at the bar, her head a good bit above the crowd.
"Are you thinking about Eric?"
"No. Not really." She kind of was thinking of him, but more as a representative of how her height always played such a big role in how people viewed her, their expectations.
On the more here and now, still trippy how she could look up at Kim. She wanted to share it with her, badly. She shared everything with her They were BFFs. She had to share this too, somehow. What if she used the shoes right in front of her?
"Thank you so much for the shoes. You got to see them." She excused herself and brought the shoes. "Look here." she said. She tried changing height, but nothing happened. She remembered the note. Of course. There was a time limit, wasn't there. She coyldn't change her height again for 12 hours, but there was another way for her to illustrate the power of the shoes to Kim.
Claire managed to convince Kim to try the shoes on herself.
