Mike was a good, honest guy. He had always been. 32 years old, he was handsome, tall, and smart, and decided to take some time away from his very demanding job and spend time with his 36-year-old wife, Lis, and his 12-year-old tween daughter, Ellie. They looked alike, tall and beautiful.
The Carson family decided to go to San Diego, California for their 2-week vacation, the first in a long time, over a 4-hour flight.
It was on their second week, that after going surfing, combing dozens of beaches, eating at 22 restaurants, and visiting every attraction San Diego had to possibly offer, that the Carsons felt a bit winded, and decided to just order pizza, delivered by DoorDash.
The Pizza Hut order arrived in 20 minutes to the Carsons' hotel, the deliverer, a perky, cute 20-year-old named Christie, emblazoned on her name pin.
Mike was handing Christie the cash when Lis turned on the television and saw the news - it was the Fusion Wave, on a special interruption.
She called for Mike, who told her to hold on. Ellie, who was then setting the table, came to look. The authorities said it was sweeping across America, and closing in on the Western States. Mike and Christie paused as the sky darkened outside as they heard the thunder.
Lis' eyes grew wide, but before she could even turn to speak, the Fusion Wave hit.
