After you finish saying the spell and still look human, you find yourself very embarrassed.
"What was I thinking?" you ask yourself, blushing. "Why would I text my best friend that I'm going to be a dog?"
It's a good thing you have very gullible friends. There's little doubt that Peyton is on her way over right now, thinking you're in desperate need of a caregiver until you can become human again. But what will she do when she comes over and finds a human sitting hunched over a silly old book, surrounded by dog stuff?
"I know! I'll dig through my closet and put on my dalmatian costume from Halloween! Peyton will just assume I'm down in the dumps after breaking up with Jordan."
But before you make it halfway to the closet, you feel something funny happen to your ears. It's as though your lobes suddenly creased near the base, like a sheet of paper that won't stay upright.
"What the ... ?"
You reach up to feel your ears and instantly get a shock. You can feel your fingers against two wide, flat, fuzzy pieces of skin hanging over the sides of your face. The sensation of touching your own ears in this manner makes your jaw drop. You run to the bathroom to see your face in the mirror. Sure enough, your ears are floppy dog ears, and they're covered in short fur, just like much of your face and neck!
"How did I not notice this happening?!" you think to yourself. Your nose turns black before your eyes, and you realize it's happening: you're going to be a labrador retriever!
"Oh, man, this is so freaking weird, what is Peyton going to say when she finds out this is for real!"
You grin wider than you have since your breakup with Jordan, and you realize you'd better take your clothes off if you're going to be a dog. Stripping down, you realize that the fur has spread much farther than you realized while you were still dressed. It's already covering your chest (and probably your back, too), and you can see more of it sprouting from your abs. You can't believe you were changing into a dog the whole time you were trying to think of some way to explain why you weren't turning into a dog!
Your breasts have shrunk noticeably, but the sight of a bunch of extra nipples on your belly is consolation enough. You now know this book of yours can actually change people into animals, and probably control animals as well, but how is this possible? Could it have something to do with that odd dream you had last night?
Your back starts to lengthen, and a lump over your ass starts to swell, so you look back and proudly watch the growth of your brand new tail. By the time it's a few inches long, you find that you can make it move. By the time it's a foot long, it's wagging in wide arcs. But soon enough, you're finding it very hard to stand up. Flopping down on your hands, you notice that your fingers are shorter and have grown claws. A weird stretching feeling happens to your feet, forcing your ankles up off the floor while your toes grow claws as well. By the time your steady enough to walk on all fours, there's hardly an humanity left in your physical form. By the time you here Peyton unlocking your door with the extra key you gave her, your shape is indistinguishable from that of any purebred lab. You hope Peyton is good at taking care of dogs!
