“Eighteen years you have walked this Earth, now this number is but six. Each roll of the dice returns more of what you have lost.”
“Are you fucking kidding me?!” Nicholas shouted angrily. The golden light enveloped him. He shrunk once more, down to the age of a kindergartener. His new age transformed his scowl into an adorable pout, but he didn’t care about that right now. He’d somehow overshot by the highest amount possible!
“I should go to Vegas with these odds,” Nicholas muttered under his breath as he climbed out of the clothes that had fully enveloped him. He went over to the boxes of clothes belonging to the twins. “Guess I have to borrow something from them. Joy of joys.”
Nicholas dug through both boxes, pulling out random items of clothing, until he’d come up with four outfits. One was more masculine and gender-neutral, made using Bernard’s clothes. One was more feminine, made of Bernadette’s clothes. The last two were actually the twins’ school uniforms, which consisted of a polo and shorts for Bernard, and a blouse and skirt for Bernadette. Both school uniforms had the same white socks and nice, black shoes.
As someone who preferred more formal clothes, Nicholas immediately gravitated towards the school uniforms, but stopped. An unaccompanied child in a school uniform was likely to be sent to that school if spotted. Of the other two options, the masculine outfit was more informal, made up of a T-shirt, shorts, and flip-flops. The feminine outfit was more formal, as it was a dress, tights, and sandals. If he wanted to dress more formally, Nicholas would have to dress up as a girl.
After a few moments considering his options, Nicholas had made up his mind as to what he was going to wear.
