“Dad! What are you doing here?” Maiko asked in surprise. She loved her father, but his mere physical presence was causing revision in her, which only intensified her emotions at getting caught sneaking into his den.
“I live here,” Brad replied. “And I’m here because I’m worried about this software on my laptop. I found myself worried about what would happen if others found it, and about what would happen if someone used it irresponsibly.” He conveniently neglected to mention his own prior use of the system, which had been several steps on the wrong side of ‘responsible.’ “So what are you doing here?” he asked.
Maiko shifted nervously. “I need to use the device. There’s a problem I have to fix.”
Brad gave her the classic parent look. His daughter knew she was in the hot seat. “Go on.”
“I…I wanted to make the world better for lesbians like me. More hot women. More sex. Fewer men.” Meiko was really trembling.
Brad sighed. “Oh, Meiko. I’m so sorry. Your desires are something I programmed into you to keep you out of trouble. I’m afraid I overdid it. Here, let me change you back…”
“No!” Meiko cried, tears in her eyes. “You can’t take away the thing I love the most about myself! I don’t’ care if I’ve always been this way or not. It’s who I am, and you have no right to change me. You were wrong to make me this way, and you’re wrong to want to change me back.”
Brad was starting to grow irritated. “Listen to yourself! You’re not thinking rationally. You’ll feel better once I fix you.”
“Stop.”
Brad stopped. “What’s going on?” he asked.
Meiko didn’t answer. Instead she said “Type in ‘Brad cannot change any of the commands already entered into this program.’”
To his surprise, Brad found himself doing as his daughter commanded. “What is happening?” he asked.
Meiko smiled smugly as she answered. “Remember when you first found me using the software. How I entered a command quickly before you could see? Do you want to know what it was? I wrote ‘Father will type exactly what I want him to when he uses this program.’ Now please step aside while I make the world a sexier place.”
Brad was stunned. He had been outplayed by his own daughter, who was now consumed by an obsession he had inflicted on her. But he had a card up his sleeve as well. With little argument, he got out of his office chair and invited Meiko to sit.
“What is this?” Meiko said after a minute of staring at the screen. “It’s all nonsense! I can’t even make out the commands or keyboard. What did you do?”
Now it was Brad’s turn to be smug. “I told you I was worried about abusing the power of this program. So just before you entered, I made a command of my own, making it so that I was the only person who could enter commands into the computer.”
“Typical man!” Meiko cried. But then she thought the situation through. “So, you’re the only one who can change reality, but you have to enter what I tell you. Guess what, Daddy? You’ve become my personal wish granting genie!”
Brad’s heart sank. She was right. And depending how the next few minutes went, things could get very, very bad for him.
It didn’t take long for Meiko to come up with her first command. “Start typing, Dad. I want you to…”
