Christine was out of the water as fast as her legs could move though the thick muck of the pond. In seconds, she was standing a few feet away, shivering both from fear and cold.
"How could I be so stupid?" she muttered to herself. She looked over her body quickly, but didn't see any obvious changes right away. She stood for a couple minutes just to catch her breath before she decided that she needed to find her clothes and get out of here.
It wasn't until she tried to take a step that she realized something was horribly wrong. Her feet wouldn't move at all. She looked down and was startled to see that her toes had elongated and started to dig deeply into the soil. There were even large tendrils coming out of her heel. She was literally rooted to the ground!
Even as she tried to pull her legs out, she watched bark begin to slowly climb her legs as they fused together. The changes began to accelerate as it reached her waist. She felt her body stiffen involuntarily, then straighten. It wasn't long before her arms shot straight out and upward, starting a massive canopy of branches and leaves.
Once it was over, Christine was still aware of herself and could feel her new form. It was oddly calming, being a massive oak, but she had little sensation outside of herself.
After a period of time, how long she wasn't sure, she managed to calm down and started working on a way out of this mess.
